Suika hails from Ishigami Village as a descendant of International Space Station astronauts who survived the global petrification event. Severe nearsightedness, termed "blurry sickness," compelled her to wear a watermelon-rind helmet that used the pinhole effect to sharpen her vision. Villagers ostracized her due to the facial contortions this caused. She first encountered Senku Ishigami near a river, aiding his iron sand collection. His nonjudgmental acceptance of her helmet secured her loyalty to the Kingdom of Science.
Her small size and melon helmet excelled in reconnaissance. She gathered intel on villagers' desires—like their food monotony—enabling Senku to win support through innovations such as ramen. Her curiosity occasionally prompted questions about adult topics like "harem," deemed inappropriate for her age. During the Village Games, she identified Kinro's matching vision impairment and lent him her helmet. She survived capture by Mantle and escaped to warn allies.
Senku later integrated glass lenses into her helmet, correcting her vision and evoking emotional clarity. She retained this modified helmet over conventional glasses. Her role expanded beyond scouting: she pinpointed tungsten in Chrome's rocks for lightbulb filaments and crafted gold wire for cellphones. Participation in melting metals and operating the cotton candy machine cemented her value.
In the Treasure Island conflict, Suika stowed away on the Perseus. Ryusui kicked her off the ship to save her from Kirisame's petrification weapon. Alone, she evaded Ibara's forces, shattered glass as a diversion, and collaborated with Ginro to secure the mobile laboratory, protecting scientific resources. After the second global petrification, she endured years isolated in Brazil, foraging and building shelters while persistently testing revival fluid until she revived Senku and others.
Post-revival, Suika emerged as a teenager—taller, with stem-like hair, modified village attire, and heeled shoes. Her melon helmet’s upper section broke, leaving the base. Transitioning from scout to scientist under Senku, she applied survival knowledge to treat injuries like spider bites. Her faded poncho bore a carved "E=MC²," symbolizing trust in science and Senku.
In the "Dr. Stone: Ryusui" special, she operated a ramen shop using Ryusui Nanami’s currency and befriended Mirai Shishio. Her flight suggestion inspired Senku’s hot air balloon. She contributed to fabric production for the balloon and modeled Yuzuriha’s modern clothing designs.
