Description
Ban's harsh childhood in Ravens forced him to survive through theft, enduring brutal beatings before imprisonment at Aberdeen Prison. There, he met mentor Zhivago, who defied warnings to teach him thievery. Zhivago's tales of the Fountain of Youth ignited Ban's quest for immortality.
Seeking the fountain in the Fairy King's Forest, Ban encountered its guardian, Elaine. Initially hostile, she read his mind and recognized his lack of malice. Over seven days, a deep bond formed; Ban confessed his hope that living long enough might allow "something good" to happen. When a demon fatally wounded them both, Elaine saved Ban by transferring the fountain's water through a kiss, granting him immortality at the cost of her life. Honoring her, Ban planted the entrusted Almoca Seed, creating a new fairy forest. He was falsely accused of destroying the forest and killing Elaine, leading to imprisonment and 33 failed executions due to his immortality.
Meliodas later recruited Ban into the Seven Deadly Sins, using their battles as incentive. Ban joined primarily to keep fighting Meliodas, though he developed loyalty to the group. His immortality and signature ability, Snatch—stealing objects, attributes, or souls—made him formidable. He harbored intense hatred for the Demon Clan after Elaine's death.
Following the Seven Deadly Sins' disbandment after the Demon King's defeat, Ban journeyed to Purgatory to rescue Meliodas' stolen emotions. He endured centuries battling monstrous entities alongside Meliodas before returning. This ordeal strengthened his resolve and deepened bonds, especially with Meliodas.
In "Cursed by Light," Ban attended King and Diane's wedding in the Fairy King's Forest with Elaine. Discussing marriage plans, he declared a preference for a simple ceremony over a large event. When brainwashed fairies and giants disrupted the wedding, Ban used Snatch to disarm attackers by removing enchantments from their weapons. He later aided repelling the Supreme Deity's assault, fighting alongside former teammates.
After the Supreme Deity's defeat, Ban and Elaine explored Britannia before founding the kingdom of Benwick near the Fairy King's Forest. They maintained ties with former allies, attending gatherings like Tristan Liones' tenth birthday celebration.
