Description
Shinei Nōzen, called Shin, is a young soldier of Pyrope and Onyx descent, sporting bloodred eyes and jet-black hair. A jagged scar encircles his throat, masked by a sky-blue scarf left by a fallen comrade—a remnant of his brother Shourei’s near-fatal assault during their childhood. This violence erupted after their parents, lured by the Republic of San Magnolia’s false pledge of citizenship, perished in military service, abandoning the brothers to systemic betrayal.

Raised in the Republic’s privileged First Sector until his family’s internment for their mixed blood, Shin endured kindness crumbling into brutality. Following Shourei’s enlistment and death, he joined the military at twelve as a Processor. The trauma of his brother’s attack unlocked a haunting telepathic gift: communion with the dead, including the voices of Legion units housing human neural remnants.

Dubbed Undertaker and Reaper, Shin mercy-kills fatally wounded allies, collecting dog tags to preserve their memories—a penance fueled by survivor’s guilt and his eerie connection to the Legion. Leading the Spearhead Squadron, he inspired both awe and dread, his Para-RAID synchronization allegedly driving Handlers to madness or suicide.

Once a stoic “ghost” resigned to a battlefield death, Shin’s resolve wavered upon meeting Vladilena Milizé, a Handler who defied norms by treating the Eighty-Six as human. Her resilience against the Legion’s psychic onslaught and insistence on understanding his squad chipped at his emotional armor. Their bond deepened in the Alliance of Wald, where he confessed his feelings, embracing the possibility of a life beyond war.

A tactician forged through self-taught strategy and frontline grit, Shin leverages extrasensory perception to track Legion movements and direct allies via Para-RAID. Though physically diminished by endless combat, his reflexes and mastery of mechanized units like the Juggernaut and Reginleif—armed with high-frequency blades and artillery—make him lethally efficient.

After Spearhead, Shin joined the Federacy’s Eighty-Sixth Strike Package, trading his Republic uniform for steel-gray attire but keeping the scarf. Initial distrust over his assumed nobility faded as his prowess earned respect. Confronting Shourei’s reanimated Legion form and nurturing ties to Lena steeled his purpose: no longer a soldier bound by duty alone, but one fighting for human connection and hope.
