Shōya Chiba
Description
Shōya Chiba is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and singer born in Tokyo on August 29, 1995. He began his career in entertainment as a child actor at the age of seven, working under the agency Sanno Production. After being inspired to pursue voice acting, he graduated from a training school and joined the agency Sigma Seven E in April 2014. He remained with Sigma Seven for several years, transferring to its main division in July 2020, before leaving the agency to join Toy's Factory on January 1, 2023.
Chiba is recognized for his versatility in portraying a wide range of characters, from stoic and intelligent protagonists to more energetic and supportive roles. One of his earliest leading roles was as Kotarō Azumi in the 2017 romantic drama Tsuki ga Kirei. That same year, he began voicing one of his most famous characters, the analytically brilliant but emotionless Kiyotaka Ayanokōji in the long-running series Classroom of the Elite, a role he has reprised across multiple seasons. Another landmark role arrived in 2021 when he was cast as Shinei Nouzen, the stoic handler of the Eighty-Six, in the critically acclaimed sci-fi drama 86.
His filmography includes a variety of prominent characters in major anime productions. He voices Kou Minamoto, the exorcist boy, in Toilet-Bound Hanako-kun and its sequel After-School Hanako-kun. In the 2019 remake of Dororo, he played the complex role of Tahōmaru, the younger brother of the protagonist. Chiba has also taken on roles in popular sports anime, such as Taiki Inomata in Blue Box, Yūdai Imamura in Blue Lock, and Akihiko Nirei in Wind Breaker. Other significant credits include Kabetaijin in Ya Boy Kongming!, Matsuri Kazamaki in Ayakashi Triangle, Sōma Shiki in Play It Cool, Guys, and Sigma in Bungo Stray Dogs.
Beyond his voice acting, Chiba is active as a singer and performer. In 2017, he became a member of the SparQlew unit under the Kiramune music label. He later embarked on a solo career, making his debut as a singer under the King Amusement Creative label with the release of his first EP, Blessing, in January 2024, followed by his first album, Streak, in July 2025. His career continues to expand with upcoming roles in highly anticipated projects such as Hairi Takahara in the anime adaptation of Summer Pockets and Ōri Sakaguchi in Tamon's B-Side.
