Description
Komasan is a komainu Yo-kai resembling a shiba inu, characterized by long blue fiery eyebrows like hitodama flames, ivory fur, and light blue accents on his stomach, tail, and inner ears. He has lime-green eyes and red swirls on his cheeks and hips. He carries a green furoshiki cloth with white spiral patterns for storage and, following a gift from his brother Komajiro, also wears a green sling pouch across his body in media from *Yo-kai Watch 2* onward. Using a leaf for transformation, he dons the appearance of a black-haired teenage male.

Originally a centuries-old shrine guardian, Komasan ventured into the city after his shrine's demolition. His personality reflects a shy, curious "country bumpkin" archetype, initially unfamiliar with urban life. He speaks with a rural Nagano dialect, ending sentences with "-zura" and exclaiming "Oh my swirls!" when surprised or excited. He feels a strong responsibility towards his younger brother Komajiro, striving to appear knowledgeable despite Komajiro often adapting faster to city life. Komasan enjoys exploring urban environments, especially seeking soft-serve ice cream, and maintains a peaceful disposition, rarely resorting to violence. He corresponds with his mother via letters and visits her in the spirit realm.

In the film *Enma Daiō to Itsutsu no Monogatari da Nyan!*, specifically the episode "Komasan Returns Home," Komasan and Komajiro return to their homeland at their mother's request. They discover she has a third child, Komasaburō, who is unexpectedly a human baby, leading Komasan to navigate his role as an older sibling within this unusual family dynamic.

Throughout the anime series, Komasan appears in various roles: forming an expedition team, working jobs like taxi driving or police work, and participating in contests where he employs unconventional judging methods. His relationship with Komajiro is central, featuring mutual care and occasional sibling friction, such as when Komajiro's rapid adaptation causes Komasan insecurity. A subplot involves Komasan developing feelings for a human manga artist, prompting him to use his human disguise to interact with her. After revealing his true identity to inspire her work, he accepts their incompatibility but gains an appreciation for coffee.

Komasan possesses pyrokinetic abilities, primarily summoning blue fire or hitodama flames for combat, though he avoids confrontation unless necessary. His fighting style occasionally involves makeshift weapons like a bazooka, despite lacking proficiency. In team settings, he often relies on allies for support rather than engaging directly.

He is a recurring playable character in multiple games, including the main series and spin-offs like *Yo-kai Watch Blasters* and *Yo-kai Watch: Wibble Wobble*. His acquisition varies from automatic story inclusion to unlockable via specific items. He evolves into forms like Komane through leveling or fusion and participates in Yo-kai Circles essential for unlocking other characters. Statistically, he emphasizes Spirit (SPR) and Speed (SPD), utilizing fire-based techniques like "Blaze" and inspirits that inflict burn damage.
