Erika Harlacher
Description
Erika Lynn Harlacher is an American voice actress known for her extensive work in English dubs of Japanese anime series and video games. Born on August 29, 1990, she grew up in Camarillo, California, and developed an early interest in acting through school plays. Her initial inspiration for voice acting came from an interview she saw as a child with Christy Carlson Romano, the voice of Kim Possible. After graduating from La Reina High School in 2008, she attended California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, initially majoring in graphic design. During her freshman year, she attended a voice acting workshop at Anime Expo led by Tony Oliver, who encouraged her talent. This led her to change her major to theatre and pursue an internship at Bang Zoom! Entertainment, where she gained firsthand experience in recording sessions.
Harlacher's professional voice acting career began in 2011 with minor roles in the anime K-On!. Her first major role was as the lead character, Grace Harland, in the video game adaptation of Battleship. She continued to build her resume with a variety of characters, including Sadira in Killer Instinct and the lead role of Ayesha in Atelier Ayesha: The Alchemist of Dusk. A significant early role was Ami Kawashima in the 2014 English dub of the romantic comedy Toradora!, which helped raise her profile. The same year, she voiced the stoic Kyoko Kirigiri in Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and Sukuyo Mankanshoku in Kill la Kill.
The mid-2010s saw Harlacher take on a number of prominent leading roles. In 2015, she voiced Princess Asseylum Vers Allusia in Aldnoah.Zero and Elizabeth Liones in The Seven Deadly Sins, both of which premiered on Netflix. She also voiced Mimori Togo in Yuki Yuna is a Hero that same year. In 2016, she was cast as Kurapika in the Viz Media English dub of the 2011 Hunter x Hunter anime series, which aired on Toonami. A career-defining role came in 2017 when she voiced Ann Takamaki in the critically acclaimed video game Persona 5.
In 2018, Harlacher voiced two more major lead characters in high-profile Netflix series: the titular auto memory doll in Violet Evergarden and the compulsive gambler Yumeko Jabami in Kakegurui. She also starred as Sakura Yamauchi in the English dub of the feature film I Want to Eat Your Pancreas in 2019. Among her many other notable roles, she voices Shinobu Kocho in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Venti in the popular video game Genshin Impact. Her work spans a wide range of genres and includes characters such as Yukiko Shirato in Megalobox, Ena Ibarada in Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove It, and Leonardo Da Vinci in the Fate/Grand Order series. She has also voiced characters in long-running franchises like Detective Conan, where she plays Mitsuhiko Tsuburaya, and in various installments of the Beyblade and Gundam series.
Erika Harlacher is based in the Los Angeles area and has been active in the industry since 2011. Her work is recognized for bringing a wide array of characters to English-speaking audiences, from determined heroes and complex antagonists to comedic relief and heartfelt leads. She married Luke Stone in 2020.
