TV-Series
Description
Felix Argyle, who often goes by the nickname Ferris or Philly-chan, is a prominent supporting character in the world of Re:ZERO. He is a dedicated knight of the Royal Guard and serves as the personal chief knight and closest confidant to Crusch Karsten, one of the candidates for the throne of the Kingdom of Lugnica.

Physically, Felix stands at 172 centimeters tall and has a slender, graceful build that often leads to first impressions of femininity. He has light brown, shoulder-length hair, bright amber eyes, and, most distinctively, a pair of cat ears and a cat-like tail, traits inherited from his family's distant demi-human ancestry. Despite his delicate and beautiful appearance, Felix is consistently and unambiguously male, a fact he is forthright about despite his love for feminine attire. He almost always wears a blue and white dress, black tights, and blue ribbons in his hair which were a gift from Crusch and which he treasures above all else.

Felix's personality is a complex layering of a playful, teasing exterior over a deeply serious and sometimes severe core. He typically speaks in a cutesy, third-person manner, often ending his sentences with a "nya" cat-like affectation, which he uses to charm and disarm others. He enjoys playing pranks, especially on the earnest and formal Crusch, just to see her surprised expressions. However, this lighthearted facade masks the disposition of a hardened medical professional. As the kingdom's most powerful healer, he has witnessed immense suffering and death, which has given him a pragmatic and uncompromising view on the value of life. He has a well-documented, deep-seated contempt for those who lack the will to live or recklessly throw their lives away, a trait that initially puts him at odds with the protagonist, Subaru Natsuki. His words can be exceptionally sharp and cutting, not out of malice but from a place of brutal honesty and a desire for others to face reality.

The foundation of Felix's character is his absolute and unwavering loyalty to Crusch Karsten, born from a traumatic childhood. Felix was born to human parents who were horrified by his demi-human features. Fearing a scandal, they imprisoned him in the basement of their manor for the first nine years of his life, subjecting him to abuse and neglect. His rescue came at the hands of a young Crusch and her father, who investigated the household and freed him. This pivotal event is the source of his fierce devotion. It was also at this time that he made a lifelong promise to Crusch: since she was pressured to be a strong, masculine lord, he would adopt a feminine persona and become the kind of knight who protects her not with a sword, but with healing magic.

His role in the story is primarily that of the party's healer and a key strategic ally. As the holder of the title "Blue," which designates the kingdom's highest-ranked water magic user, his abilities are unmatched. He is a pacifist in the sense that he cannot wield a blade effectively, but his mastery over water-based magic makes him a formidable force in his own right. His primary power is healing, which he is so adept at that it is said he can restore any wound that is not instantly fatal. However, his control over water extends to manipulating the fluids inside a living body, allowing him to disrupt motor functions, knock a person unconscious, or even control them like a puppet by overriding their own mana. This makes his magic useful for both saving lives and incapacitating enemies.

Felix’s key relationships are central to his development. His bond with Crusch is the defining element of his life; he is jealous of anyone who gets too close to her and is driven to despair at the thought of failing her. He also shares a deep friendship with the late Prince Fourier Lugnica, whose death from an incurable illness left Felix with a profound sense of guilt and a resolve to save others no matter what. His relationship with Subaru Natsuki evolves significantly from initial disdain, seeing him as a weak and arrogant fool, to a grudging respect after witnessing his bravery and tactical mind during the battle against the White Whale. Over time, they become reliable, if bickering, allies.

Throughout the series, Felix's character is tested not by becoming a great warrior, but by the limits of his own power. His greatest desire is to protect Crusch and her ambitions, yet he is constantly confronted with situations where even his prodigious healing abilities are insufficient, forcing him to confront the painful reality that he cannot save everyone. His development is one of deepening his resolve and loyalty, grappling with the weight of his responsibilities as both a knight and a healer in a violent world.
