OVA
Description
Katsuhito Masaki, originally Prince Yosho of Jurai, is the firstborn child of Emperor Azusa Masaki Jurai and Funaho. His Earthling mother's heritage created a politically sensitive position from birth, prompting him to actively shield her within the palace. At age eight, he bonded with the first-generation Royal Tree Funaho, securing his status as second in line to the Juraian throne. Adolescent feelings for his stepmother, Empress Misaki, led advisor Seto Kamiki Jurai to recommend his enrollment at the Galaxy Academy. There, Airi's influence helped him express emotions more openly. Their relationship produced a daughter, Minaho, before societal tensions between Jurai and Airi's homeworld forced them apart.

Yosho later evaded an arranged marriage to his half-sister Ayeka by pursuing space pirate Ryoko during her attack on Jurai. He lured her to Earth, subdued her using the Master Key "Tenchi-ken," and sealed her within a cave. During this conflict, he rescued Kasumi, Funaho's niece, married her, adopted the Earth name Katsuhito Masaki, and became the priest of the Masaki Shrine. With Kasumi, he fathered multiple children, including ancestors of Nobuyuki Masaki (Tenchi's father), Kiriko, and Kai. After Kasumi's death at age 138, he entered a common-law marriage with Airi, fathering another daughter, Kiyone. Kiyone later married Nobuyuki and gave birth to Tenchi and Tennyo.

Katsuhito maintained an illusion of advanced age to conceal his Juraian longevity on Earth, revealing his true youthful appearance only to select individuals like Funaho. He trained Tenchi in Juraian swordsmanship and Shinto priesthood, anticipating Ayeka's arrival and orchestrating events for Tenchi to release Ryoko, intending Tenchi to eventually represent the family on Jurai. Despite publicly severing ties with Jurai, he secretly collaborated with Seto to send descendants like Kiriko and Tennyo to the Galaxy Academy.

In the "Final Confrontations" OVA, Katsuhito participates in resolving the Choubimaru incident and attends Nobuyuki and Rea's wedding. There, he delivers a scripted account—co-authored with Airi and Kiyone—about Kiyone's death. The story's absurdity initially angers Tenchi, causing a rift, but Rea later clarifies its purpose as an expression of Kiyone's love, facilitating reconciliation. Katsuhito concludes observing the ongoing chaos at the Masaki residence with resigned familiarity.

His abilities include generating energy shields via his connection to the Royal Tree Funaho, though he cannot produce Light Hawk Wings—a misconception corrected by creator Masaki Kajishima. He honored Kasumi's wish for their Earth-dwelling descendants to avoid artificially extended lifespans, though they retain inherent Juraian longevity.
