Description
Jun Sasada serves as class president for Takashi Natsume's first-year class at Yowake High School. She has brown hair and eyes, wears glasses, and consistently wears the school uniform, securing her bangs with a green hair clip. Her family history includes significant loss: her biological mother died when she was young, her father remarried, and then he also passed away, leaving her to live with her step-family.

Sasada develops a strong fascination with the supernatural, sparked after an incident involving her deceased mother's amulet. She dropped it during a school event at an old building scheduled for demolition. A yokai named Shigure, obscured by a bucket over his head, returned it using a stick. Unable to thank him directly and believing him a ghost, she visited the building daily hoping to see him again. This pursuit fueled her growing suspicion that Natsume could see yokai, leading her to pressure him into participating in school events to observe him.

Her narrative role differs between adaptations. In the manga, she moves away shortly after the Shigure incident due to her stepfather's job transfer. In the anime, she remains a recurring character across multiple seasons, frequently appearing with Natsume's friends Satoru Nishimura, Atsushi Kitamoto, Kaname Tanuma, and Tooru Taki. She occasionally follows Natsume on yokai-related excursions, expressing a desire to encounter spirits herself. Once, she retrieved an old bus ticket Natsume dropped, questioned him about it, and attempted to accompany him to investigate its origin before Tanuma intervened.

As class president, Sasada displays a serious, responsible, and sometimes bossy or authoritative demeanor. Natsume notes her determination and efficiency despite her complex family situation, evident in her persistent efforts to thank Shigure and her curiosity about Natsume. The anime occasionally hints at a potential romantic interest in Natsume, such as her blushing when questioned about following him. She shares friendly interactions with the group, like trading CDs with Tooru Taki and light teasing about Taki's affection for Madara (Nyanko-sensei). She has a playful dynamic with Nishimura and Kitamoto, often seen with them. While her focus on yokai lessens in later anime seasons, she remains part of the social circle, though with reduced prominence compared to earlier arcs.
