Description
Jun Sasada holds the position of class president in Takashi Natsume's first-year class. She has brown hair, typically styled straight and shoulder-length, and wears glasses. Her appearance features a green hair clip securing her bangs, and she is most often seen in her school uniform.
After her biological mother's death in childhood, her father remarried but also passed away shortly after, leaving Sasada with her step-family. A pivotal moment occurred when she lost an amulet—a keepsake from her mother—in an old school building. Searching for it, she encountered a yokai named Shigure, who returned the amulet while hiding his face behind a bucket. Unable to thank him directly and concluding he was supernatural, she began visiting the building daily, hoping to meet him again.
As class president, Sasada displays responsibility and efficiency, though she can be bossy or assertive with classmates. She exhibits persistent determination, particularly in her quest to find Shigure and her observations of Natsume. She grows suspicious of Natsume's ability to see yokai due to his unusual behavior, frequently questioning him and attempting to accompany him during spirit encounters despite his denials and reluctance. The anime adaptation includes subtle indications of romantic feelings toward Natsume, such as blushing when questioned about her interest in his activities.
During a "Test of Courage" event at the old school building, coinciding with its impending demolition, Sasada confronts Natsume about her suspicions. After being inadvertently rendered unconscious, she later apologizes and reveals her impending move to the city due to her stepfather's job transfer—her final chance to thank Shigure. Natsume facilitates a resolution by conveying Sasada's gratitude to Shigure, who finds peace. Though unable to see Shigure, Sasada senses a meaningful connection during their final encounter.
While the manga depicts Sasada moving away after this event with no reappearance, the anime retains her as a recurring character. She continues attending school with Natsume, integrating into his social circle and regularly interacting with friends like Satoru Nishimura, Atsushi Kitamoto, Kaname Tanuma, and Tooru Taki. In later anime episodes, she assists Natsume with tasks such as returning a lost bus ticket and maintains curiosity about his activities, though her earlier forceful demeanor lessens. Her friendships include exchanging CDs with Taki and participating in group interactions.
