TV-Series
Description
Akubi is a genie residing within a magical vase. She originates from the 1969 series "The Genie Family," where she lived in a bottle with her father, Hakushon Daimaō. Summoned whenever a person yawns, she is compelled to grant a wish for the one who yawned.

In the original series, Akubi exhibits a mischievous nature and often twists the words and meanings of wishes, leading to unintended negative consequences for the wisher. This contrasts with her father, whose own wish-granting is frequently undermined by his extreme clumsiness.

Thirty years after the events of the original series, Akubi receives a special opportunity to explore the human world as a gift for her 1010th birthday. This leads to a spin-off series where she meets a new master, a fifth-grade girl named Koron Nemuta. Koron has a habit of yawning when embarrassed, which results in her repeatedly summoning Akubi from the vase. Akubi's attempts to grant Koron's wishes often cause more trouble than success.

In a separate 2006 spin-off series, Akubi befriends a first-grade elementary school student named Ruru-chan, the owner of the vase who also summons her by yawning. Ruru-chan has a secret crush on her classmate and next-door neighbor, Itoshi-kun. Akubi uses her magic in attempts to make them good friends, but her efforts consistently fail. Despite these failures, Akubi continues to emerge from the vase to help her best friend, Ruru-chan. Her magical abilities include tapping a tambourine to transform into any form and to grant dreams or wishes.

Across all appearances, Akubi remains good-natured but mischievous, with a love for pranking people. Her magical interventions, while well-intentioned, typically lead to comedic complications rather than simple solutions.
