TV-Series
Description
Silky, also known as Silver Lady or Gin no Kimi, serves as the housekeeper in Elias Ainsworth and Chise Hatori's residence. Originally a banshee bound to a specific clan, she wandered aimlessly after her clan's extinction, facing dissolution until Spriggan intervened. He transformed her into a Silky, a type of brownie fae, and brought her to a home occupied by humans practicing ancient traditions. This transformation predates Elias's ownership, establishing her long history with the dwelling.

Her appearance features blonde hair, pink eyes, and a consistent outfit of a pink Victorian dress with a matching shawl and bonnet adorned with yellow flowers. Her hair shortened significantly after her transformation from a banshee. She maintains a human-like form typical of domestic brownies, standing 157 cm tall.

Predominantly silent and reserved, Silky communicates through actions. She displays stoicism yet harbors deep emotional connections, particularly toward Chise. This attachment stems partly from Chise's nature as a Sleigh Beggy, though her care extends to all household members, including Ruth. She becomes visibly distressed when Chise is injured, absent, or neglecting meals and shows protectiveness against perceived threats like Simon. Despite her solemn demeanor, she engages in lighthearted pranks, such as sewing hearts into clothing.

Her duties encompass comprehensive housekeeping: cooking, cleaning, sewing, pet grooming, and night watch. She wields housekeeping magic, enabling her to alter the home’s structure—adding carpets or modifying walls—to suit seasonal needs or occupant comfort. Her culinary skills include traditional British pub fare and international dishes, knowledge acquired by observing a previous homeowner, the Widow, who unknowingly taught her through daily routines. The Widow left cream offerings by the fireplace, a recognized method to thank brownies without causing offense, as direct payment or gifts are culturally insulting.

She served multiple generations in the home before Elias, assisting discreetly when inhabitants lacked the Sight. Her bond with Spriggan persisted, with him visiting during the Widow’s absences. After Elias assumed ownership, she performed tasks openly. Her role expanded upon Chise’s arrival; she dotes on Chise, preparing tailored meals and clothing, and actively intervenes in household well-being, such as providing Chise spending money to encourage breaks. Key moments include her devastation when Chise nearly died creating fairy ointment, her joyful embrace upon Chise’s recovery, and her initiative in preparing a feast during a rainbow event, echoing traditions from the Widow’s era.

A notable limitation is her inability or reluctance to leave the house voluntarily, though exceptions occur during emergencies, such as rushing out with a blanket when Chise collapsed. The reason for this constraint remains unclear—potentially stemming from her Silky nature or personal fears of being forgotten.

Mythologically, Silkies are Scottish domestic fairies associated with household chores and an aversion to payment. The series adapts this lore, though traditional myths depict Silkies as more mischievous or destructive. Her origin as a transformed banshee is a unique narrative element not found in folklore.
