Description
Garfiel Tinsel, a demi-human with spiked blond hair, piercing jade eyes, and jagged fangs, carries a self-inflicted scar across his forehead—a permanent reminder of his childhood vow to shield the Sanctuary. This oath followed the traumatic landslide that seemingly claimed his mother, Reshia Tinzel, leaving him burdened by grief and rage. His older sister, Frederica Baumann, departed when he was four, though their bond endured through infrequent letters.

As the Sanctuary’s guardian, Garfiel met outsiders with aggression, especially Subaru Natsuki, whose link to the Witch’s scent provoked his ire. Repeated clashes and Subaru’s persistence pushed Garfiel to undergo the Sanctuary’s trials, where he uncovered the truth: his mother had survived, departing to seek his father with plans to return. This revelation fractured his resentment, prompting him to join the Emilia Camp and pledge loyalty to Subaru, whom he affectionately dubbed “Boss.”

A year later, the Priestella crisis reunited him with his mother, now amnesiac and renamed Reala Thompson. Though she did not recognize him, their heartfelt encounter ended with Garfiel clinging to her as she instinctively murmured maternal comfort. He also met his half-siblings, Fred and Rafiel, whom he secretly cherished as a brother while masking his true identity.

Garfiel’s combat prowess derives from his Divine Protection of Earth Spirits, enhancing his physical might, durability, and mastery over earth. He shifts into a feral tiger-like form, battling adversaries like Kurgan and Theresia van Astrea. Yet his resilience faltered against Aldebaran’s tactics, revealing strategic weaknesses.

Relationships shaped his growth: unrequited feelings for Ram persisted despite her rejections, tempered by biting camaraderie. His brotherly rapport with Otto Suwen balanced mischief with loyalty, while protective instincts extended to Beatrice and the camp. A rivalry with Reinhard van Astrea evolved from animosity to grudging respect, mirroring his maturation.

During Vollachia’s Great Disaster, Garfiel aided Subaru, confronting guilt over pressuring his leader while affirming his role as a protector. Trust in Subaru’s commands led him to face a dragon, echoing Subaru’s past influence on his own growth.

The Ryuzu clones—Shima, Alma, Bilma, and Delma—acted as surrogate grandmothers during his Sanctuary isolation. By naming less self-aware clones and nurturing their identities, he revealed a compassionate dedication to community.

Garfiel’s arc traces a path from vengeful isolation to steadfast camaraderie, grappling with loss, forging bonds, and redefining strength through empathy. His story intertwines personal healing with broader struggles, cementing his evolution into a guardian who channels past pain into unwavering loyalty.
