Description
Connie Springer hails from Ragako village within Wall Rose. His mother, father, and siblings Martin and Sunny are deceased, except his mother, transformed into a Pure Titan. He joined the 104th Training Corps seeking glory for his village and a chance at the Military Police, graduating 8th overall. This reflected strong physical aptitude, especially agility and balance with vertical maneuvering equipment, despite poor academic scores.

Physically, Connie stood notably short at 158 cm as a cadet, two centimeters shorter than Levi Ackerman, with a slim build, gray eyes, and a self-maintained brown buzzcut. By 854, he reached 180 cm, sporting slightly longer hair while retaining the general style. He wore military uniforms and the Survey Corps cape on missions.

Initially unfocused, impulsive, and naive, Connie possessed a cheerful, boastful demeanor. He frequently goofed around with close friends like Sasha Blouse, whom he considered akin to a twin. His early actions included stealing Titan kills and laughing at inappropriate moments. However, relentless tragedies eroded this innocence. Repeated trauma transformed him into a more somber, distrustful, and occasionally ruthless soldier, prone to anger and driven to protect his remaining friends.

Pivotal tragedies marked his development. The destruction of Ragako revealed his family and neighbors were turned into Pure Titans by Zeke Yeager. Discovering his immobilized mother whispering "welcome home" shattered him, confirming Titans were once human and igniting hatred for those responsible. Later, Sasha Blouse's death during the Liberio raid profoundly deepened his grief and cynicism. Her final word, "meat," led him to misinterpret Eren Yeager's laughter as callousness.

During the war with Marley, Connie's desperation drove him to attempt sacrificing Falco Grice to restore his mother. He abducted Falco under false pretenses, nearly feeding him to his Titan mother. Intervention by Armin Arlert and Gabi Braun stopped him; Armin's self-sacrificial leap forced Connie to choose between his mother's restoration and his friend's life. He saved Armin, acknowledging his mother would condemn such an act.

As a soldier, Connie served in critical operations: the Battle of Trost District, aiding resupply and defending comrades like Armin; the Survey Corps after graduation; the 57th Exterior Scouting Mission; surviving the Utgard Castle siege and witnessing Ymir's Titan transformation during the Clash of the Titans; fighting in the Raid on Liberio wearing anti-personnel gear; and engaging in the final battles against Titans and Marleyan forces. His combat style leveraged agility, though his Titan kill count remained low.

Connie's relationships defined his journey. His deep bond with Sasha reflected mutual support and shared rural roots. He navigated complex ties with Reiner Braun, Bertolt Hoover, and Annie Leonhart; their guilt over betraying him surfaced when their affection conflicted with their mission. Reiner once saved him from a Titan at great personal cost. Despite occasional denseness, Connie demonstrated emotional perceptiveness, comforting Armin after Eren's apparent death and accurately interpreting Ymir's protective motives toward Historia Reiss.
