Description
Toshinori Yagi, known by his hero name, originated as a Quirkless individual in a superhuman society. Driven to combat rising villainy, he aspired to heroism despite lacking powers. His fate shifted when the seventh "One For All" holder, Nana Shimura, witnessed his potential during a villain confrontation. She mentored him and transferred the stockpiling Quirk, granting him immense strength, speed, and durability as its eighth wielder. Gran Torino further trained him in sessions marked by intensity and fear.

After Nana Shimura’s death by supervillain All For One, he traveled to America to evade the enemy and refine his ideals. There, he inspired future heroes like Cathleen Bate (Star and Stripe) and solidified his goal: becoming a global "Symbol of Peace" whose presence reduced fear and crime. Returning to Japan, he achieved unprecedented success, lowering crime to under 6% and earning the No. 1 Pro Hero title. His vibrant smile, flamboyant demeanor, and catchphrase "I am here!" embodied reliability and optimism, inspired by Western superheroes.

A critical battle with All For One five years pre-story inflicted catastrophic injuries, destroying his stomach and respiratory system. This forced a frail true form—sharp-featured, skeletal, and prone to blood-coughing—with a defining chest scar. He initially maintained his muscular hero form for only three hours daily, a limit that dwindled. Concealing his condition to preserve morale, he continued heroics while secretly seeking a successor.

He encountered Quirkless teenager Izuku Midoriya, whose selfless bravery mirroring his own origins led to Izuku becoming One For All’s ninth inheritor. Training Izuku physically and mentoring him at U.A. High School’s Foundational Hero Studies, his enthusiastic but flawed teaching occasionally drew reprimands from colleagues like Eraser Head. His mentorship extended beyond Izuku, encouraging students and mediating relationships like Izuku’s with Katsuki Bakugo.

His decline culminated in the Kamino Incident, where he exhausted One For All’s remnants rescuing Bakugo and defeating All For One. This left him permanently powerless, unable to sustain his hero form beyond seconds, and forced retirement as the Symbol of Peace. Public exposure of his weakened form caused shock but humanized him. He shifted entirely to mentoring and strategic hero support.

Powerless, he joined the Final War against All For One using the "Armored All Might" suit, designed by Melissa Shield and funded by his wealth. The suit mimicked Class 1-A Quirks like "Blackwhip" and "Sugarman" amplifiers. Leg injuries during battle confined him to a wheelchair temporarily. Eight years later, he regained mobility as U.A.’s vice principal, dedicating himself to guiding future heroes.

His personality balanced unwavering optimism and occasional oafishness. His theatrical hero persona reassured civilians and intimidated villains, while his true form revealed a reserved, burdened introspection. He upheld Nana Shimura’s creed—"those who smile are strongest"—masking fears and pain with his grin. Though tormented by unsaved lives and concealed vulnerabilities, Izuku’s actions reignited his faith in heroism. Relationships like his rivalry with Endeavor and fatherly bond with Izuku underscored his belief: true heroism inspires hearts, not just defeats villains.
