Rikido Sato, alias Sugarman, trains to join the ranks of Pro Heroes as a member of U.A. High’s Class 1-A. Born June 19 in Tottori Prefecture, his 185 cm muscular frame, brown spiked hair, and prominent lips define his appearance. His early hero costume—a yellow bodysuit with exposed mouth and hair, white gloves, boots, and a sugar-storing belt—later matures into a maskless design post-graduation, accentuating his bulkier physique, sharper jawline, and light stubble.
His Sugar Rush Quirk converts consumed sugar into explosive power: ingesting 10 grams quintuples his strength for three minutes, with each additional 10 grams prolonging the effect. This surge carries trade-offs: cognitive function gradually dims during activation, followed by exhaustion. To maximize efficiency, he combines weightlifting with sugar intake, refining both raw power and pastry craftsmanship. In combat, he delivers devastating close-range blows through signature moves like Sugar Rush—a rapid barrage of punches—and the concussive Sugar Knuckle strike that propels foes backward.
Driven by necessity, Sato honed exceptional baking talents early to sustain his Quirk affordably. At U.A., his weekly “Sugar Time” dormitory ritual pairs homemade desserts with Momo Yaoyorozu’s tea selections, earning peer admiration. Though initially self-doubting, he grows to accept their genuine praise for his creations.
Key training milestones include aiding Ochaco Uraraka and Hanta Sero in neutralizing Kurogiri during the U.S.J. Incident. The U.A. Sports Festival sees him place 15th in the obstacle race before elimination in the cavalry round. After failing Cementoss’ practical exam alongside Eijiro Kirishima, he undergoes remedial training at the forest lodge, where Shota Aizawa mentors him in extending Sugar Rush’s duration.
Post-graduation, Sato evolves into a seasoned Pro Hero, serving as Wash’s sidekick while applying augmented strength to rescue missions—evidenced during the Provisional License Exam by debris-clearing feats. An internship under Lion Hero Shishido sharpens his combat prediction and strike accuracy.
He nurtures bonds with classmates: partnering with Koji Koda in Battle Trials, teaming with Sero in combat and leisure (including I-Island festivities), aiding Izuku Midoriya in crafting treats for Eri, and demonstrating quiet leadership during crises through vocal concern for peers’ safety.
