Description
Baki Hanma is the son of Yujiro Hanma, the strongest creature on Earth, and his journey is driven by a singular goal: to surpass his father through relentless training and combat.

Raised by his mother, Emi Akezawa, who funded his rigorous training to mold him into a warrior like his father, Baki eventually outgrew conventional methods and set out on a global journey, tracing his father's footsteps and encountering powerful fighters.

A defining early event was his decisive defeat in a fight against Yujiro. When Emi Akezawa intervened, Yujiro killed her, forging in Baki a deep-seated hatred and a hardened resolve for revenge.

His development continued in the no-rules, underground arena beneath the Tokyo Dome, where he battled a diverse array of martial artists to hone his skills and become champion. This included the "Maximum Tournament," a special event to crown the world's strongest fighter. Baki won his matches and ultimately fought his half-brother, Jack Hanma.

He later faced five escaped death row inmates who came to Tokyo seeking defeat, including specialists in brutal combat forms. During a conflict with the poison expert Ryuko Yanagi, Baki was fatally poisoned. To find a cure, he traveled to China for the "Great Raitai Tournament," where a master of poison reversal techniques healed him. After the tournament, he was challenged by Mohammad Alai Jr., the fictional son of Muhammad Ali, who sought to win the affection of Baki's girlfriend, Kozue. Feeling prepared, Baki then challenged his father to a rematch, which Yujiro accepted, acknowledging his son as worthy prey.

Baki later employed a unique form of image training that physically manifested an opponent to spar against. As part of his regimen, he intentionally got himself incarcerated to battle a powerful inmate known as Biscuit Oliva. His journey also included a conflict with a revived Jurassic-era caveman named Pickle, whom several other fighters battled. Furthermore, a character named Kaiou Retsu took up boxing after losing a leg in a fight with Pickle. This developmental arc culminated in a long-awaited final confrontation with his father.

In a non-canonical crossover event, Baki participated in exhibition matches against fighters from another universe. The event was organized by the heads of two respective fighting organizations who were childhood friends, and Baki was featured as a primary combatant.
