Description
Gawain, a Knight of the Round Table and King Arthur’s nephew, stands as one of the king’s most trusted allies. Renowned as the Knight of the Sun, he wields the holy sword Excalibur Galatine, a sibling blade to Arthur’s Excalibur, and radiates solar symbolism against the king’s lunar essence. His unshakable loyalty to Arthur is tempered by an unwavering adherence to duty and a bitter grudge against Sir Lancelot, whose slaying of Gawain’s brothers, Gaheris and Gareth, sowed seeds of Camelot’s ruin. This unresolved conflict culminates in Gawain’s fatal clash with Mordred at Camlann, where his wounds prove mortal. Fueled by regret, he persists as a Heroic Spirit, striving to redeem himself through flawless service to a worthy master.

In the Moon Cell Holy Grail War, Gawain answers Leonardo B. Harwey as Saber, regarding him as a second sovereign. His obedience extends to executing even morally dubious orders, a reflection of his quest for atonement. During Leo’s centuries-long dormancy, he safeguards the seventh layer of SE.RA.PH., awaiting a challenger worthy of his master. Though injured in a prior skirmish with Nero Claudius, he remains a formidable combatant, capable of overpowering adversaries like Hakuno Kishinami and their Saber.

Chivalrous yet emotionally detached, Gawain prioritizes duty over personal sentiment, treating foes with unwavering respect and maintaining a composed demeanor. His rigid adherence to knightly ideals manifests in his refusal to reconcile with Lancelot and his singular focus on serving his liege. A self-described skirt-chaser, he humorously leverages his Servant status to flirt without marital constraints. His tastes lean toward rustic simplicity—favoring hearty meals like potatoes and ale.

Guilt over Artoria’s demise drives Gawain to obey her unconditionally in later conflicts like the Grand Orders, where he seeks to embody the "perfect knight." He allies with figures such as Karna and commands forces under Nero Claudius, balancing adaptability with steadfast principles. Interactions with fellow Round Table knights blend camaraderie with lingering tensions, particularly toward Lancelot and Bors.

During *Illustrias Tendōsetsu*, Gawain emerges as a hooded guardian tending flowers in a floating field, his weariness tempered by resolve. He escorts Hakuno, Saber, and Rin Tohsaka to the final battlefield, clashing with Saber to decide humanity’s fate—a testament to his enduring devotion to duty amid the Moon Cell’s decaying order.

Physically imposing, Gawain towers with muscular stature, dishwater blond hair, and aqua eyes. His silver armor, etched with floral motifs, evolves in later *Fate/Grand Order* ascensions to incorporate flowing capes and lighter plating, accentuating his solar themes. Despite his formidable frame, his horse Gringolet dubs him "Gorilla" in jest, mocking his exaggerated musculature.
