Description
Volcanion is a Mythical Pokémon possessing the dual Fire and Water types. Its physique presents as a primarily maroon quadruped accented with blue and yellow markings, featuring pointed ears revealing blue interiors and bright blue eyes. The body segments into three distinct parts: a large, hunched front portion, a thin blue waist, and smaller rear hips. Four yellow diamond-shaped bumps decorate its chest. Two arm-like cannons form a ring on its back, expelling steam at extreme pressures. This powerful steam can obliterate mountains, reshape terrain via explosive shockwaves, and cloak Volcanion within dense fog. An internal organ instantly vaporizes absorbed water using intense heat. During exertion, Volcanion depletes its water reserves, signaled by a bell-like sound and reddening cannon markings, temporarily disabling its Water-type moves until replenished externally. It remains the sole Pokémon capable of learning Steam Eruption.

Centuries past, Volcanion encountered the lost artificial Pokémon, Magearna. Despite Magearna's mechanical nature, they forged a deep bond. Volcanion became Magearna's protector and began sheltering other Pokémon harmed by humans within the secluded Nebel Plateau. Witnessing human cruelty firsthand cultivated profound distrust and hostility in Volcanion, viewing humans solely as threats. This protective drive extended to all plateau Pokémon, which it actively defended from intruders.

During events involving the Azoth Kingdom, Volcanion pursued an airship carrying the captured Magearna. Agents of Councillor Alva forcibly attached an electronic band to its leg during a confrontation. A second band intended for Volcanion affixed to Ash Ketchum, creating an electromagnetic tether physically linking them. Forcefully dragging Ash along during its mission to recover Magearna, Volcanion displayed open contempt and disregard for Ash's safety, causing him repeated injury. After rescuing Magearna from Alva, the persistent tether compelled Volcanion to reluctantly allow Ash and his companions to accompany it back to Nebel Plateau. It remained hostile and dismissive, demanding the humans leave once Gulpin acid dissolved the bands.

Alva's subsequent attack on Nebel Plateau and recapture of Magearna, culminating in the theft of its Soul-Heart, forced Volcanion into an alliance with Ash's group to storm Alva's flying fortress. Witnessing the humans' genuine efforts to protect the plateau's Pokémon – particularly their intervention against a Pokémon hunter and solidarity during the crisis – began to erode Volcanion's animosity. Volcanion sacrificed itself to destroy the fortress and prevent it crashing into Nebel Plateau, expressing regret only for failing to save Magearna. Presumed dead after the explosion, Volcanion survived but collapsed unconscious. Magearna revived it using pollen from flowers, exploiting its known allergy to induce a sneezing fit. This near-death experience and the humans' proven dedication led Volcanion to acknowledge Ash, his friends, and their Pokémon as honorary members of Nebel Plateau, signifying a hard-won acceptance of trustworthy humans.

Volcanion continues its guardianship of Nebel Plateau, overseeing the resident Pokémon and maintaining vigilant watch from its cave, ensuring their peace and safety. Its personality transformed from outright hostility to that of a cautious protector willing to extend trust to humans demonstrating compassion toward Pokémon.
