Luviagelita Edelfelt, known as Luvia, heads the distinguished Finnish magus lineage of the Edelfelt family. This mercenary aristocracy historically pursues valuable Magecraft through global conflicts. Luvia possesses an introverted twin sister remaining in Finland, and her own marriage arrangement is based on mutual affection.
Years before the main events, Luvia witnessed Shirou Emiya's failed high jump attempt in Fuyuki, sparking her romantic feelings for him. Later at the Clock Tower, she met Rin Tohsaka. Their similarities, including mutual affections for Shirou, ignited a bitter rivalry. This antagonism resulted in incidents like a destructive fight over dormitory accommodations that saw both banned from the Norwich Students Dormitory, prompting Luvia to purchase a London mansion. Their refusal to cooperate during Zelretch-assigned Class Card collection missions even caused their Kaleidosticks, Sapphire and Ruby, to abandon them.
Within the Fate/kaleid liner continuity, Luvia initially contracted with Sapphire as a magical girl securing Class Cards. After Sapphire rejected her due to the unproductive rivalry with Rin, Luvia adopted Sapphire's new master, Miyu Edelfelt, as her protégée. Using her family's wealth, she constructed a mansion opposite the Einzbern residence in a single day to house and guide Miyu. Across story arcs, Luvia alternates between collaborating and conflicting with Rin, undertaking joint ley line investigations and a failed attempt to extract Kuro using Illya as bait.
During 3rei!!, Luvia traveled to Miyu's parallel world following her kidnapping by the Ainsworths. There, Luvia and Rin were captured, brainwashed by Angelica Ainsworth, and forced into servitude as maids. Freed by Gilgamesh and Bazett, they rejoined Illya's group and encountered that world's Shirou Emiya. Outside kaleid liner, in Fate/hollow ataraxia, Luvia's parallel-world counterpart experienced the "Zelretch box incident," falling from the Tower of London with Rin during a magical mishap. Rescued by Shirou Emiya, she nicknamed him "Shero" and partnered with him to investigate a casino.
In Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files, Luvia initially displayed hostility toward Lord El-Melloi II, hiring a spellcaster to tarnish his reputation. After he aided her escape from Adra Castle's magical security and shared reflections on Kayneth Archibald's death, she gained respect for him and requested him as her tutor. She provided a leftover Command Spell from her family's Third Holy Grail War participation as payment.
Luvia's personality blends aristocratic grace with intense competitiveness. She maintains a refined facade, though Rin's presence triggers her perfectionist and combative tendencies. Despite elitism, she shows pragmatism regarding wealth—avoiding waste while acknowledging its role in upholding status—and harbors a personal preference for "simple" romantic partners despite her arranged marriage. Her combat abilities encompass jewel magecraft similar to Rin's, Gandr curse projectiles penetrating reinforced walls, and proficiency in Lancashire-style martial arts resembling professional wrestling, earning her the moniker "Forklift Lady."
Physically, she has long, coiled golden-blonde hair often adorned with blue ribbons, stands 1.60 meters tall, and favors signature blue attire featuring detachable sleeves for combat readiness.
