Description
Luviagelita Edelfelt, known as Luvia, heads the prestigious Finnish magus lineage, the Edelfelt family. Her prior visits to Fuyuki led her to witness Shirou Emiya's persistent high jump failures, sparking her initial affection for him. Within the Mage's Association, she encountered Rin Tohsaka, igniting a bitter professional and personal rivalry fueled by their similar personalities and mutual feelings for Shirou. Both received an assignment from Zelretch to collect Class Cards in Fuyuki City.
Luvia maintains a proud, aristocratic demeanor, strategically deploying her family's wealth, such as constructing a mansion opposite the Einzbern residence overnight to oversee Miyu Edelfelt. This followed after the Kaleidostick Sapphire rejected her due to her uncooperative rivalry with Rin, leading Luvia to mentor Miyu as her proxy. While typically graceful, her composure shatters around Rin, often escalating to physical fights. She boldly pursues her romantic interest in Shirou and cultivates a pseudo-sisterly bond with Illyasviel von Einzbern to strengthen her connection to him. She deeply appreciates professional wrestling.
During the Class Card mission, Luvia assisted Miyu while competing against Rin. After completion, her attempt to depart via helicopter was thwarted by Rin, resulting in orders for both to remain in Fuyuki due to their inability to cooperate. Later, while investigating ley line disturbances, Luvia and Rin sank into bottomless mud, requiring rescue by Illya and Miyu. They subsequently collaborated, using Illya as bait, to capture Kuro.
In the parallel world arc, the Ainsworth family captured Luvia and Rin off-screen, extracting their souls into stuffed animals while placing artificial personalities in their bodies. These artificial versions served as maids in the Ainsworth mansion until Gilgamesh and Bazett freed them. Luvia then rejoined Illya's group and encountered the alternate Shirou Emiya from Miyu's world.
Luvia's abilities match her main Fate counterpart: specialization in jewel magecraft, Gandr curse projectiles, and Lancashire-style martial arts. Her Gandr shots retain significant potency, demonstrated by penetrating a reinforced wall despite severe injuries. She leverages her family's influence for information manipulation, financial control, and rapid construction projects.
Her relationships center on her persistent romantic pursuit of Shirou Emiya, including calling Irisviel von Einzbern "Mother of Shero" and inviting the Einzbern family to events to facilitate closeness with him. She acts as Miyu's guardian and supervisor, providing magical guidance and residence. Her rivalry with Rin encompasses professional competition within the Mage's Association and personal conflict over Shirou. With Illya, she deliberately positions herself as an older sister figure to integrate into Shirou's family.
In Lord El-Melloi II's Case Files, Luvia initially held animosity toward Lord El-Melloi II. This changed after he aided her escape from a magical security system, earning her respect. She subsequently requested his tutelage, paying him with a Command Spell her family retained from the Third Holy Grail War.
