Description
Hinata Okano is a student in Class 3-E at Kunugigaoka Junior High School. She is a girl of short stature, standing at 147 cm, with a light and athletic build weighing 42 kg. She has short, brownish-gray hair, which is the shortest among the girls in her class, and purple eyes. Her birthday is April 2nd.
Before being placed in Class 3-E, Hinata was a member of the school's gymnastics club. Her dedication to club activities led her to neglect her studies, causing her grades to drop significantly and resulting in her transfer to the end class. Despite this academic setback, her background in gymnastics is her defining trait, granting her exceptional flexibility, agility, and reflexes. She is able to easily scale cliffs and perform complex acrobatic maneuvers.
Hinata has a proactive and enthusiastic attitude toward the class's mission to assassinate their teacher. She is described as one of the more active students in planning and executing attacks, utilizing her physical abilities to perform quick, surprising strikes. Her combat style favors powerful kicks, and she is highly proficient with a knife; she ranks as the top female student in knife combat and keeps a retractable anti-sensei knife concealed in her right shoe. In assessments by their physical education teacher, she was noted for her high mobility, close-range assassination skills, and dependability in scouting missions. Her strengths, however, are primarily physical, as she is known to act before thinking and struggles with strategic planning.
Her personality is forthright and spirited. She has a brash and somewhat clumsy demeanor, often speaking her mind without a filter. When angered, she can become very stubborn and is not afraid to express her frustration physically. Despite sometimes acting tough, she is fundamentally honest and loyal to her friends. Her closest companion is the class representative, Meg Kataoka, with whom she often spends her free time. The two share a bond over their mutual insecurities regarding femininity.
One of Hinata's most significant personal storylines involves her classmate, Hiroto Maehara, towards whom she harbors a secret crush. Their partnership in several school events, such as a test of courage and a three-legged race, hints at their dynamic. Her feelings come to a head in a Valentine's Day incident where she attempts to give him chocolate, only to discover he had inadvertently used the situation as part of an assassination plan against their teacher. This led to her kicking him in the face and refusing to speak to him. They later reconcile after Maehara demonstrates genuine remorse by replacing the blade in her shoe with chocolate, acknowledging that he would not know her so well if he did not care for her. In the future, seven years after graduating from junior high school, Hinata has channeled her athletic talents into becoming the captain of an acrobatic performance team at her university.
