Description
Chomusuke, a sleek black feline with bat-like wings, yellow oval eyes, and a crimson cross emblazoned on her forehead, emerged in Crimson Demon Village as an enigmatic being. Her origins lie in her existence as the violent half of the dual Dark God Wolbach, counterpart to the slothful deity. Sealed together within a stone, their imprisonment ended when a young Megumin accidentally shattered the artifact. Wolbach overpowered Chomusuke’s feral form, compressing her into a diminutive cat and re-sealing her. Years later, Komekko, Megumin’s sister, freed the creature again, prompting her adoption as Megumin’s familiar after narrowly evading becoming the family’s dinner.

Displaying sharp intelligence and comprehension of human speech, Chomusuke breathes fire—a skill acquired from Cecily—and soars using her membranous wings. Though Megumin dismisses her as mundane, Kazuma sporadically witnesses these talents. Absorbing Wolbach’s residual essence altered her behavior: she spurns pet food for human cuisine, indulges in baths, and mirrors Wolbach’s loathing of Aqua, frequently assaulting the goddess. This fusion also ignited her terror of Emperor Zell, Aqua’s mana-rich avian companion.

Her alliances reflect her divine duality. Drawn to Kazuma’s indolence, she shares his baths, while Megumin’s fiery temperament resonates with her violent core. She adores Wiz’s gentle nature but shuns demons like Arnes, who pursue her reclamation, and Komekko, whose culinary intentions linger. Repeatedly hunted by entities coveting her link to Wolbach, Chomusuke relies on Megumin’s group for protection, steadfastly refusing to abandon her mage companion even in peril.

Pivotal battles showcase her strategic value, from luring the destructive Host to confronting the Black Slab’s robed adversary. Post-merger, her mannerisms increasingly echo Wolbach’s slothful preferences, rejecting kibble for gourmet meals and leisurely soaks. Spin-offs whimsically depict her as an eccentric transfer student, though Megumin attributes her quirks to typical cat behavior.

Across narratives, Chomusuke balances her dual identity as a fragmented deity and a loyal familiar. Her journey from a sealed fragment of chaos to Megumin’s cherished companion underscores her gradual assimilation into the party, even as her divine legacy spawns recurring threats. Through clashes and quiet moments, she navigates the tension between her primordial nature and the bonds anchoring her to an unlikely family.
