Description
Discovered as an infant within a Hiroshima crater during Shinka 20 (1945), Jiro Hitoyoshi was rescued by Professor Magotake Hitoyoshi amidst an alternate supernatural manifestation replacing the atomic detonation. Magotake adopted him while concealing his origins, fostering Jiro’s belief in his own humanity.
Jiro possesses lilac hair obscuring his left eye and golden eyes. As the Superhuman Bureau’s top agent, he wears a black suit with blue-striped cuffs, a striped scarf, and a bandaged left arm. Post-Bureau, his attire shifts to a black shirt bearing a star emblem and a red sentai-style scarf.
Initially unaware of his abilities, Jiro manifests crimson flame projection from his left arm, controlled via a mechanical lock housing three gears. Unlocking each gear amplifies power but diminishes control; full release of the third triggers berserk rage. Childhood companion Emi Kino uniquely reseals these gears to stabilize him. His transforming vehicle, Equus, shifts between high-speed car and combat-ready quadrupedal mech.
Jiro’s ideology evolves from fervent advocacy for superhuman justice within the Bureau to disillusionment upon uncovering its morally ambiguous tactics, including threat fabrication for public manipulation. This culminates in his Shinka 45 departure, transforming him into a vigilante opposing his former organization.
A Shinka 53 revelation exposes Jiro as a dimensional kaiju entity, igniting an identity crisis as he reconciles his human self-perception with monstrous origins. Key relationships anchor his journey: adoptive father Magotake, whose secrets strain trust; Emi, whose bond offers emotional stability; and rival-turned-ally Kikko Hoshino. His moral code prioritizes protecting all superhumans against institutional exploitation and prejudice.
Anachronic storytelling contrasts his idealistic Bureau tenure with fugitive years, tracing his metamorphosis from enforcer to revolutionary while interrogating justice, identity, and heroism within a morally complex world.
