Description
Hunter Steele, a red-haired youth with green eyes and a white headband bearing four green gems, journeys from the Outer World into Arachna's subterranean Inner World. Guided by his grandfather Digger Steele's journal, he investigates a jungle pyramid, falls through a portal, and gains an artifact fused to his wrist. Immediately, he clashes with Shadow, a proud, armored battle spider, forging a reluctant Spider Rider partnership. A prophecy hints that an Earthen like Hunter could bring either doom or salvation to Arachna.
Initially lazy, stubborn, impulsive, and prone to complaining despite his determination and bravery, Hunter matures significantly. His motivation evolves from proving the Inner World exists to actively protecting Arachna and seeking peace between humans and the insectoid Invectids. He volunteers for perilous missions and develops a strong sense of justice, though retains his core stubborn determination. Key relationships drive this growth: his bond with Shadow deepens into genuine friendship and mutual respect, while his connection with Corona, the first human he meets, includes unspoken admiration and romantic interest—her image calming him in battle. Mentorship from fellow Spider Rider Igneous during training, aiding Magma on a quest, and encounters with the legendary hero Quake and the Lost Mariner further shape his path.
His civilian attire features a bluish-white t-shirt, an open red vest, dark blue jean shorts with lighter blue trim, white socks, and brown shoes. As a Spider Rider, he wears blue armor: a tunic with a red orb, blue shoulder armor, white gloves, blue pants, white boots, and a shield.
Hunter undertakes critical missions: protecting the Oracle Keys from Invectid forces, aiding Nuuma kingdom against invasion, destroying a weapon threatening Arachna Kingdom, and infiltrating Invectid territory to negotiate peace with leader Mantid. Mantid reveals the Invectids' century-long sunlight deprivation, earning Hunter's empathy, but also confesses he caused this plight as an Earthen seeking vengeance. Obsessed with stopping Mantid, Hunter confronts him. When the Spirit Oracle appears, Hunter remembers his duty to protect all life, chooses mercy over vengeance, and offers Mantid redemption. This act restores Mantid to human form, allowing his return to the surface. Hunter witnesses Quake and the Lost Mariner depart before contemplating future adventures.
As a human, Hunter relies on combat training and his Axial Pike weapon. His abilities surge when wielding the Oracle Keys: one key enlarges his left shoulder pad, enabling web-shooting via "Electra Twist"; two keys transform his right shoulder pad, granting a larger shield, a long sword, non-flying wings, and the "Blue Bolt" attack; three or four keys retract the wings, sprout four metal spider legs, and unleash the "Blue Wave" special attack. His personal motto remains "Never Give Up!"
