Description
Izumi Nase served as the previous head of the prestigious Nase Clan, Spirit World Warriors overseeing supernatural phenomena in Nagatsuki City. She possesses black neck-length hair, purple eyes, and a distinct beauty mark below the left side of her mouth, projecting an elegant, motherly aura. Her typical attire includes long-sleeved shirts, shorts, two necklaces (one with a small fish pendant, another with red and green jewels), and a bracelet on her right wrist; she stands 170 cm tall.
Following her parents' absence, Izumi assumed responsibility for raising and mentoring her younger siblings, Hiroomi and Mitsuki Nase, rigorously training them in Spirit World Warrior duties. Her methods emphasized sacrifice for duty, significantly shaping their development, particularly Mitsuki’s pragmatic outlook. As clan head, she balanced her public role with a private willingness to employ morally ambiguous strategies, manipulating others to achieve outcomes deemed necessary for maintaining balance between the clan and the Spirit World Warrior Society.
Her key actions included permitting Miroku Fujima to observe the Hollow Shadow, erecting Glaciate Barriers to protect the city, and suspending Mirai Kuriyama’s Spirit World Warrior license for insubordination. Believing Akihito Kanbara’s Youmu heritage posed an existential threat, Izumi orchestrated plans to eliminate him. She recruited Mirai as an accomplice due to her bloodline’s unique ability to suppress Youmu, later persuading Mirai to sacrifice herself to extract the entity "Beyond the Boundary" from Akihito.
A pivotal revelation occurred when Miroku Fujima exposed Izumi’s secret: she had willingly harbored a Youmu inside her own body to protect her family and allies. Witnessed by Hiroomi, this disclosure led Izumi to relinquish her position and depart into self-imposed exile, transferring clan leadership to Hiroomi.
In the sequel film *I’LL BE HERE - Future*, Izumi reappeared as an antagonist under near-total control by the Youmu, clad in a black bodysuit and wielding her signature double-bladed naginata. She confronted Mirai, Akihito, and Hiroomi, questioning Mirai about her past and revealing she absorbed the Youmu from Miroku years earlier as a protective measure. During the climax, Hiroomi’s intervention—a steadfast embrace—helped Izumi overcome the Youmu’s influence. Post-recovery, she was shown convalescing, with her return to formal clan leadership unresolved.
Izumi’s combat prowess centered on mastering "Glaciate Barriers," enabling her to induce suspended animation or suppress consciousness. She expertly wielded a transformable naginata that could separate into a three-section chain-linked staff. Her character arc exemplified the consequences of bearing overwhelming burdens alone, driven by a rigid sense of duty that initially isolated her but ultimately found redemption through familial bonds.
