Description
Ayumu Aikawa is a 16-year-old male high school student murdered by a serial killer and resurrected as a zombie by the necromancer Eucliwood Hellscythe. This resurrection grants him functional immortality, featuring regeneration and the ability to survive severe bodily damage, though injuries cause him pain. His undead state creates an extreme vulnerability to sunlight and heat, resulting in rapid dehydration and weakened regeneration during the day. He resides alone in a detached house, his parents and younger brother living abroad; he later shares this home with Eucliwood, the magical garment girl Haruna, and the vampire ninja Seraphim.

Initially lazy, snarky, and somewhat perverted, Ayumu prefers solitude but gradually comes to value companionship through his interactions. He frequently daydreams about Eucliwood in idealized scenarios, revealing a sister-complex inclination she acknowledges. Despite often seeming weak-willed outside of combat, he displays decisive aggression and a vengeful streak during confrontations, like his near-fatal assault on the serial killer Kyoko. He ultimately spares her when she begs for mercy, showing an underlying moral compass. This duality extends to his relationships, where he endures frequent physical punishments from female companions yet maintains genuine care and respect for them.

Accidentally absorbing Haruna's magical powers forces Ayumu to become a magical garment girl (masou shoujo), requiring him to wield her chainsaw weapon Mystletainn and wear a frilly pink costume. This transformation temporarily lessens his sunlight weakness and grants abilities including flight, energy projection, and memory manipulation. His zombie physiology lets him exceed normal human physical limits, amplifying his strength up to 800% in base form and 1000% as a masou shoujo, though overexertion risks self-injury. Key techniques are the "Mystletainn Kick" and the light-based spell "Shararararaaaann," which nullifies shadow and darkness powers. He also possesses a supernatural-negating scarf and the Gem of Life, enhancing his resurrection capabilities.

Throughout the series, Ayumu confronts entities such as megalo demons and the King of the Night, often using tactical analysis and pain tolerance to overcome stronger opponents. Significant events include repeated dismemberment and reassembly, a heroic self-sacrifice saving Haruna from an explosion, and losing his memory-erasure ability after Mystletainn breaks. By the light novel's conclusion, he regains his humanity, works as a salaryman, and navigates unresolved romantic tensions with Eucliwood, Haruna, Seraphim, Sarasvati, Yuki, and Kyoko.
