Description
Professor Gennosuke Yumi is the director of the Photon Power Laboratory and the father of Sayaka Yumi. He is a senior scientist who took charge of the laboratory after the death of its founder, Dr. Juzo Kabuto, whose leading disciple and assistant he had once been. As such, he carries on the legacy of Juzo's research into photon power energy and the defense of humanity against the forces that threaten it. He is a middle-aged man with a calm and scholarly bearing, usually depicted wearing glasses, a moustache, and a white laboratory coat over more formal clothing.
His scientific background is central to his character. He is the developer of Aphrodite A, the support robot piloted by his daughter, as well as its successor Diana A, and he is responsible for several major upgrades to Mazinger Z, including the Jet Scrander and the Jet Pilder.
