Description
Seiya de Pégaso serves as a Bronze Saint dedicated to Athena, marked by his Pegasus Cloth and relentless determination. Orphaned and separated from his sister Seika in childhood, he later learns he is one of many unacknowledged children of Japanese billionaire Mitsumasa Kido. Trained in Greece under Eagle Marin, he secured the Pegasus Bronze Cloth. While his core drive remains finding his missing sister, his loyalty expands to safeguarding Athena and Earth.
He exhibits an impulsive yet resilient nature, refusing defeat despite severe injuries or overwhelming odds. Profound loyalty compels him to sacrifice himself for allies and Athena, balanced by strategic cunning that lets him outmaneuver stronger foes. He typically avoids battling female adversaries unless circumstances demand it. Though he treats fallen enemies with kindness and fairness, his blunt speech often conveys unintended insolence.
His abilities center on manipulating Cosmos, an energy source granting superhuman strength, speed, durability, and energy projection. Signature techniques include the Pegasus Meteor Fist and Pegasus Comet Fist. He masters the Seventh Sense for light-speed movement and unlocking his Cosmos's full potential. During the Hades arc, he awakens the Eighth Sense, allowing his soul to stay conscious and traverse the Underworld without death. His Pegasus Cloth evolves through exposure to Athena's blood and divine battles: it temporarily becomes a Gold Cloth in the Poseidon arc, and ascends to the God Cloth in Elysion. This ultimate form, empowered by allies' combined Cosmos and Athena's blood, enables flight, dimensional travel, and god-rivaling power.
In "The Hades Chapter - Elysion," his actions prove pivotal. After Gold Saints destroy the Wailing Wall, he and fellow Bronze Saints enter Elysion, the Underworld's deepest realm. Facing Hades' elite subordinates—Hypnos and Thanatos—his God Cloth becomes essential. He confronts Thanatos directly, defeating the god with the Pegasus Ryu Sei Ken. Against Hades, he intercepts a sword strike aimed at Athena, sustaining critical wounds and a curse that leaves him comatose. The arc concludes with his fate unresolved as Athena and surviving Saints return him to the human world.
His broader journey includes locating Seika, who suffers amnesia. He temporarily wields the Sagittarius Gold Cloth during Sanctuary and Poseidon conflicts, acknowledging his link to its prior owner, Sagittarius Aiolos. Later depictions, like in "Saint Seiya Omega," show him as an adult Gold Saint guarding the Sagittarius constellation while protecting Athena. The film "Legend of Sanctuary" maintains his core traits, focusing on defending Athena and employing the Sagittarius Gold Cloth in the Sanctuary conflict.
