Description
E2 Jet is a Hikarian who transforms from the E2 Series Shinkansen N formation train. His defining characteristic is an overwhelming and singular obsession with speed, living by a personal principle that speed is life itself. This core trait manifests as a compulsive need to challenge any entity he perceives as being faster than him, often leading to impulsive high-speed contests even while he is supposed to be on duty. His internal reaction to seeing something faster is described as his "oil boiling" with competitive fire. This reckless pursuit of velocity frequently lands him in trouble with his superiors, particularly Professor 300X, resulting in disciplinary measures such as being struck by artificial lightning and even temporary suspension from duty. His rivalry with E3 Racer is a notable example of this behavior, as the two are known to compete against each other, with bets like kiritanpo (a type of rice cake snack) on the line. In one instance, a challenge from the human ally Tetsuyuki Shinbashi directly led to E2 Jet racing E3 and subsequently being confined to quarters.

Despite his impulsive nature in seeking speed, E2 Jet plays a specific and important role in combat as a high-speed aerial unit. In his transformed state, he is capable of supersonic flight, which he uses for rapid-response rescue operations and providing air support to his fellow Hikarians, employing tactics similar to a combat aircraft. His primary weapon is a jet gun, and his signature special move is the jet gun attack, which combines his breathtaking agility with calculated targeting. His turbine also incorporates laser weaponry, enabling him to deliver powerful strikes in close-quarters combat. While he is driven by speed, he also demonstrates fierce loyalty to his allies, sometimes breaking off from a fight to rescue a comrade in danger.

His key relationships include his rivalry with E3 Racer, his status as a subordinate to Professor 300X who often scolds and disciplines him, and his interactions with Hikari Captain, another superior who reprimands him. He has also been known to cooperate with the ninja-like Hikarian, Nankai Rapit, and is often seen in the company of Lightning Nozomian. While his impulsive behavior is a persistent issue, the narrative suggests that his tendency to challenge everything faster than himself eventually becomes tempered or cured over time. He is also associated with the organization JHR. A character with the same name appears in the sequel series Ultra Radiant Express Hikarian, but this is established as a distinct individual separate from the original character from the 1997 series.
