Description
Momiji Fujimiya, hailing from the mythologically rich Izumo region, begins as an ordinary middle school student unaware of her lineage as a descendant of Princess Kushinada. This heritage imbues her blood with the "Kushinada pulse," a power capable of putting all Aragami—monstrous entities threatening Japan—into eternal sleep upon her death. To prevent this outcome, the Aragami pursue her capture and containment within a specialized ceramic field.

Her existence shifts dramatically when Mamoru Kusanagi, a man embedded with blue magatama beads, attempts to kill her to activate the Kushinada pulse. During a clash with the Aragami Orochi, she intercepts an attack meant for Kusanagi. Surviving, she fuses with a mitama (an Aragami soul) embedded in her chest, gaining the ability to sense Aragami presence. This power proves vital to the Terrestrial Administration Center (TAC), a secret organization fighting these threats. She joins the TAC to protect humanity and uncover the truth about her twin sister, Kaede Kunikida, previously exploited for similar abilities and believed dead.

Initially naive and prone to comedic mishaps—including frequent panty shots and jokes about her childish, animal-print underwear—she matures emotionally and mentally through repeated Aragami attacks, psychological trials, and complex family revelations. Her optimism and determination solidify. Her relationship with Kusanagi evolves from mutual distrust to deep affection, leading to a love confession during a crisis in a shielded town. She also forms familial bonds with TAC members, notably Daitetsu Kunikida, who progresses from seeing her as a tool to treating her as a daughter.

Her journey involves reconciling her identity as the Kushinada with her personal desires. She learns to wield her mitama's power without surrendering her humanity, relying on strong willpower to resist its corruption. Later, in events including the OVA *Blue Seed Beyond*, she mentors Valencia Tachibana, another human-mitama hybrid, demonstrating heightened confidence and leadership. By this stage, she sheds earlier childish traits, such as wearing whimsical underwear, symbolizing her evolution into a resilient protector. Her path concludes with a commitment to safeguarding humanity and the natural world, balancing her sacred duty with her personal connections.
