Description
Karl Lichter von Randoll, born July 7, 2001, hails from a wealthy Austrian aristocratic family. Initially driven by a desire to impress Asuka Sugo, he discovered genuine passion after entering Cyber Formula racing. Demonstrating exceptional talent across multiple sports, he earned the nicknames "Amadeus of the Circuit" and "Genius." He debuted professionally with Union Savior in 2015, inheriting the championship points of retired driver Knight Schumacher.
He won his debut race at the Norway Grand Prix, defeating Naoki Shinjyo and instantly establishing himself as a championship contender. This victory ignited a fierce rivalry with series protagonist Hayato Kazami, whom he initially viewed with disdain. Piloting the Issuxark 007, he secured further victories including the Africa Grand Prix in Kenya. His involvement in Cyber Formula fostered unexpected friendships and provided purpose beyond his privileged life.
The 2016 season started strong but faltered after humiliation from Knight Schumacher. Despite a late recovery and a close second-place finish in the season finale in Japan, he finished fourth overall. A severe collision with Hayato Kazami at the 2017 British Grand Prix resulted in a facial scar. Combined with parental disapproval, this accident forced him out of professional racing.
Witnessing Hayato Kazami's return spurred Karl to secretly use his family's wealth to acquire Union Savior. As owner, he implemented innovative technical approaches, incorporating competitors' technologies: a rolling cockpit mechanism and linear wheel from Sturozech Project, plus a Sugo six-wheel drive system (supplying Sugo with engines in return).
Determined to race again, Karl returned under the alias "Prinz Rosencreuz" for the final 2018 Grand Prix, wearing a mask reminiscent of Knight Schumacher and entering via pre-qualifying. Though he retired from the race and his identity was revealed to his parents, he secured their reluctant permission to continue. From 2019, he served as both owner and primary driver for Union Savior.
For the 2020 season, he invited an unknown driver, later revealed as the returning Naoki Shinjyo, to be his teammate. After Shinjyo departed to rejoin Aoi ZIP Formula in 2023, Karl hired female driver Sera Gellagher as his new teammate. He maintains a notable habit of taking tea breaks inside the pits or on pit lanes during races.
