Description
Arale is an android built by Senbei Norimaki to resemble a young girl, initially sporting long purple hair and requiring glasses for nearsightedness. Her appearance later changed to feature dark-brown hair in the 1997 remake. Senbei presented her age as 13 but quickly regretted this choice due to her youthful look and immature actions. Her design evolved over time to appear shorter and cuter, explained in-story by the existence of multiple bodies in different sizes.

Despite her childlike naivety and frequent lack of common sense, Arale wields superhuman strength and intellectual capacity. This allows her to solve advanced equations or perform complex tasks like an appendectomy on a frog. Her personality is energetic, carefree, and intensely curious, with a well-documented fascination for poop—she often delights in poking it with sticks. She adores kaiju films and superheroes like Ultraman and Godzilla. Her innocence keeps her from recognizing danger or malice, though her power effortlessly overcomes threats. She deeply cares for her family, friends like Akane Kimidori and Peasuke Soramame, and animals.

Senbei constructed Arale in his laboratory. After failing an eye test, she received her signature glasses. To hide her android nature, Senbei introduced her as his younger sister. She enrolled at Penguin Village Middle School, where her intelligence and physical prowess drew immediate attention. Key early adventures include bonding with a criminal over shared kaiju fascination, rescuing and cybernetically enhancing a bear named Mr. Bear, and time-travel escapades using Senbei's inventions like the "Time Slipper." She also gained a pet, Gatchan, a winged creature hatched from a prehistoric egg.

Her abilities include terrain-splitting techniques like the Chikyūwari (Earth Chop) and energy beams such as the Nchahou (N'cha Cannon). These powers are frequently displayed in conflicts, like effortlessly defeating the monster Dodongadon in the film *N-cha! Penguin Village is Swelling Then Fair*. When Dodongadon summoned the colossal Mamangadon, Arale engaged her with her typical playful yet formidable approach, treating the encounter as a game.

Arale's adventures span multiple timelines, including space travel with characters like Bubibinman, whom she introduced to poop during a contest. She often interacts with Senbei's inventions, such as the Reality Machine—which accidentally duplicated her and others across a universe replica—and the Ponpoko Morph Gun, which transformed her into a television. Her stories consistently highlight the juxtaposition of her childlike whimsy and immense power, cementing her role as Penguin Village's unconventional protector.
