Arale is an android built by Senbei Norimaki to resemble a young girl, initially sporting long purple hair and requiring glasses for nearsightedness. Her appearance later changed to feature dark-brown hair in the 1997 remake. Senbei presented her age as 13 but quickly regretted this choice due to her youthful look and immature actions. Her design evolved over time to appear shorter and cuter, explained in-story by the existence of multiple bodies in different sizes.
Despite her childlike naivety and frequent lack of common sense, Arale wields superhuman strength and intellectual capacity.
