Description
Makoto Ōno, eldest daughter of the affluent Ōno family, abdicates her role as heir to escape the rigid traditions enforced by family tutor Moemi Gōda, leaving her younger sister Akira to inherit their legacy. Her defiance manifests in repeated attempts to flee the suffocating expectations of her upbringing. Physically mirroring Akira, she sports black manga hair or dark purple anime curls, styled slightly wilder. Her signature yellow-orange sweater and gray jeans accessorized with a jewel necklace give way temporarily to a rebellious Shibuya ensemble—black shirt, checkered skirt, and knee-high boots—until Moemi seizes the outfit.

Bubbly and irreverent, Makoto shuns social conventions with a tomboyish ease, openly embracing her love for mature-themed arcade games without hesitation. Though she playfully needles Akira, her guilt over abandoning the heir’s burden fuels a fierce protectiveness. She champions Akira’s gaming ambitions and romance with Haruo Yaguchi, bridging the gap between their bond and family pressures. Collaborating with Haruo, she co-creates a custom Super Famicom RPG to uplift Akira during a depressive slump, showcasing her blend of creativity and loyalty.

Her dynamic with Haruo extends beyond gaming; she forges a camaraderie with his mother Namie, sharing gossip while advocating for the couple’s freedom. Moemi’s strictness invites constant, humorous clashes, as Makoto’s taunts highlight their ideological rift. Later arcs reveal her maturation from self-focused rebellion to strategic allyship, mentoring Haruo through emotional trials and loaning him a motorbike to reunite with Akira in the story’s climax.

The manga hints at a provocative edge beneath her cheerful exterior, depicting her candid discussions of erotic games and unapologetic challenge to societal taboos—a contrast to her steadfast support system, adding layers to her defiance. Despite evolving into a pivotal confidante, her core remains unchanged: mischievous, unrestrained, and relentlessly authentic.
