Description
Sonic the Werehog is a transformation state triggered when Sonic the Hedgehog, in his super state, absorbs negative energy released from the Chaos Emeralds by Dr. Eggman's reversed-polarity Chaos Energy Cannon blast. This form manifests under specific conditions: it activates at night and persists until sunrise, though exposure solely to a full moon can also induce the change. The transformation process involves visible physical distress, including shaking, collapsing, and snarling.
Physically transformed, Sonic grows larger and more muscular, featuring broader shoulders, a thicker chest, and longer limbs. His fur darkens to a deep blue while his skin turns pale blue. White countershading appears on his wrists, quill ends, and chest. His muzzle lengthens, his ears curve into horn-like shapes, and he develops prominent fangs and claws. His eyes become angular and green, with pronounced brows. He loses his gloves, exposing his clawed hands, and his shoes darken to a deeper red, gaining added spikes and metal strips.
This form trades Sonic's signature speed for immense physical strength, stretchable arms, and heightened durability. Combat abilities include destroying metal and robotic enemies with single strikes, enduring significant pain, and using stretchable limbs for grappling or grabbing distant objects. His agility and reflexes remain intact. Behaviorally, he exhibits feral traits: a deeper, gravelly voice, roaring, occasional quadrupedal movement, and a shorter temper. However, his core heroic personality persists; he remains focused on protecting others and thwarting Dr. Eggman, his willpower preventing a full descent into bestial madness.
During an event at a haunted mansion, Sonic and Chip seek shelter from rain. Inside, ghosts named Su and Uh attempt to scare them to photograph their frightened expressions for Lah, a ghost they seek to impress. Sonic displays no fear and photobombs their pictures, angering the ghosts. When the full moon appears, Sonic transforms into the Werehog. Su and Uh, now terrified, fuse into a larger ghost named Baker to retaliate. They use invisibility during combat until Chip deduces photography makes them visible. Sonic attempts to use their camera against them but fails initially. Knocked down, the ghosts argue over taking his picture, breaking their fusion. Sonic then attacks and ejects them from the mansion. Later, Lah impersonates Chip using shapeshifting abilities to take a photo with Sonic while the real Chip remains captive inside. The transformation reverses at dawn.
This form was permanently lost when Dark Gaia drained its negative energy to accelerate maturation, returning Sonic to his original state.
