TV-Series
Description
Ginro is a young man from Ishigami Village who serves as one of its guards, a role he shares with his older brother, Kinro. At sixteen years old, he has a small build and soft facial features, with medium-length blond hair that often covers the left side of his face and round green eyes. Unlike many of the other warriors in the village, Ginro is not very muscular, and his somewhat androgynous appearance allows him to convincingly pass himself off as a girl when a disguise is required.

In terms of personality, Ginro is defined by his pronounced cowardice and self-interest. He is easily frightened, often complains about hard work, and tends to slack off during his guard duties. He is also easily distracted by shiny objects and get-rich-quick schemes, and he has a notably perverted side, often focusing on the superficial qualities of women. However, his character is not without depth. Despite his selfish tendencies, Ginro is surprisingly sincere about his own flaws and does not pretend to be braver than he is. More importantly, he genuinely cares for his friends and family. On multiple occasions, he has overcome his deep-seated fears to protect others, such as when he refused to sacrifice his wounded brother to save the village or when he risked his life to help Senku and Chrome during a dangerous mission to acquire sulfuric acid.

Ginro's motivations are typically driven by personal gain and comfort. He dreams of an easy life as village chief where he can order people around, eat ramen every day, and build a harem. These desires often lead him to meddle in the affairs of others, such as Chrome's relationship with Ruri. Yet, when the situation becomes truly dire, his underlying loyalty surfaces. He has shown a willingness to endure severe injuries to gather crucial information for his allies and has demonstrated unexpected courage in battle, as seen when he managed to defeat a physically superior opponent from his village and, later, when he faced armed soldiers to protect his friends.

Ginro's role in the story is frequently that of comic relief, providing a contrast to the more earnest and heroic characters. His cowardly and self-serving actions often create humorous complications, but his unique skills also prove useful. For example, his androgynous looks allowed him to infiltrate the Petrification Kingdom by joining a harem selection. In the Science Future storyline, he continues to be a source of mixed reactions, as his misguided antics inadvertently drive the plot forward while his rare moments of bravery offer glimpses of potential growth. He is often used for labor within the Kingdom of Science, frequently needing to be dragged into work by Kohaku or Kinro.

Key relationships heavily influence Ginro's behavior. His relationship with his brother Kinro is central; despite their bickering and Ginro's jealousy over Kinro's strength and golden spear, the bond between them is strong, and Ginro's love for his brother is a primary catalyst for his courageous acts. He also has a dynamic with Kohaku, whose strength and threats easily intimidate him, and with Senku, whose scientific marvels and schemes Ginro is often reluctantly dragged into. Chrome is another close companion, and Ginro has put himself in harm's way to save the young scientist. According to the wandering warrior Matsukaze, Ginro bears a striking resemblance to his former lord, a fact that once granted him unexpected protection from a powerful enemy.

Regarding development, Ginro begins as a purely selfish and cowardly guard but gradually proves that he can be relied upon in moments of extreme crisis. While he never completely sheds his lazy and lecherous nature, he demonstrates a growing capacity for self-sacrifice, showing that he values his friends' lives above his own comfort and safety. In a notable moment during the war against Stanley's forces, Ginro broke free from his captors and, despite his fear and tears, fought back against professional soldiers, showing a rarely seen facet of honor and bravery.

In terms of abilities, Ginro is a competent spearman, though not on the level of elite warriors like Kohaku or his brother Kinro. He excels more at showy flourishes and feints than raw power. He has displayed remarkable stamina on occasion, particularly when under the influence of a caffeine-like concoction, allowing him to endure a brutal beating and still win a match. He also possesses enough skill to assist in hunting large animals, such as American alligators. His standard weapon was originally a stone-tipped spear, which was later upgraded to a steel katana crafted by Kaseki. He has also proven resourceful, once concealing a chemical weapon inside a pineapple under his clothes during an infiltration mission.
