ONA
Description
Lilia Vanrouge is a third-year student at Night Raven College and the vice housewarden of Diasomnia dormitory, where he also serves as the supervisor and overseer of Malleus Draconia. Despite his youthful appearance, which makes him look like a young boy, Lilia is rumored to be an ancient being with a long and storied past. Centuries ago, he held the title of General of the Right and served as a guard for the royal family of Briarland, the former name of Briar Valley. An orphaned bat fae, Lilia was taken in by Maleficia Draconia, the Queen of Briar Valley, and he went on to fight in wars, earning medals for his bravery and repeatedly throwing himself into the flames of conflict.

In terms of personality, Lilia is warm and often makes surprisingly thoughtful remarks, but he also expects to be taken seriously when the situation demands it. He can be strict at times and his words may come across as coarse, but he possesses a playful side and enjoys surprising and teasing others. He has a fondness for pranks and mischief, a trait he shares with many fae. His age and experience give him a unique perspective; he often remarks that he has seen almost everything over the centuries but has forgotten most of it. Despite his small stature and charming demeanor, those who know his history recognize him as someone who was once famed for his peerless might in battle.

Lilia's motivations are deeply tied to his loyalty to the Draconia royal family. He has spent centuries watching over Malleus, having been present since Malleus's hatching, and he continues to act as a caretaker and guide for the young dragon fae. His role in the story is that of a mysterious elder figure who observes events from the sidelines, occasionally stepping in to offer cryptic advice or to intervene when necessary. In the Episode of Heartslabyul, Lilia appears as a supporting character, often providing quiet commentary alongside Malleus and offering unexpected assistance, such as when he reveals his involvement in compromising another character's plans.

Key relationships define much of Lilia's character. His bond with Malleus Draconia is the strongest and most significant; he raised and taught Malleus from childhood, and the two share a deep mutual trust despite Lilia's role as both a caretaker and a disciplinarian. Malleus treasures the souvenirs Lilia brings him from travels and takes his teachings, praises, and scoldings to heart. Lilia is also the adoptive father of Silver, having found and raised the boy, and he instilled in Silver a sense of duty and honor. He is protective of Silver and treats him as family. He also acts as a mentor figure to Sebek Zigvolt, who looks up to him with great respect. Lilia maintains friendly and occasionally mischievous relationships with other students across the dorms, including Cater Diamond, Kalim Al-Asim, and Floyd Leech, though he is less fond of Idia Shroud.

Character development for Lilia is gradual and often tied to revelations about his past and his physical condition. Over the course of the larger narrative, it becomes clear that his magic has been weakening for years, leading him to announce he will drop out of Night Raven College to retire. His role shifts from a seemingly frivolous upperclassman to a figure of great historical weight and personal sacrifice. The dreams and memories explored in later story arcs reveal the hardships he endured, including the loss of comrades and the burdens of war, as well as his deep, fatherly love for Silver and his unwavering devotion to Malleus.

Notable abilities include his powerful magic, which is rooted in his bat fae heritage and centuries of experience. He is an expert flyer and has a unique signature spell or form of magic that is referenced in various sources, though its exact name and effects are tied to his battle prowess. He is also known for his surprising physical strength and endurance, despite his small build, and he has a knack for stealth and surprise. His wisdom from centuries of life allows him to read people and situations with sharp accuracy, making him a valuable if unconventional ally. Lilia also has a peculiar taste in cooking, known for creating disastrous or eccentric dishes, and he enjoys music, playing instruments and participating in the Pop Music Club.
