ONA
Description
Gara, also known as Ninja Master Gara, is introduced as one of the Four Divine Kings. He is a tall man with a muscular build, dark, messy hair, and a prominent scar on the left side of his face. His battle armor covers his chest, and he wears spiked shoulder pads, giving him the imposing appearance of a seasoned warrior.

Gara is a character who lives by a simple but absolute code: to follow the strongest. His personality is defined by a relentless pursuit of amusement and excitement, whether in the heat of combat or other activities he finds entertaining. He is a proud ninja master and a warrior above all else, yet this pride does not lead to arrogance, as he is perceptive and refuses to underestimate any opponent. He demonstrated this insight when he noticed that Dark Schneider had changed during the fifteen years he was sealed away. While Gara shares a perverted side similar to Dark Schneider, such as when he enjoyed watching a clothes-dissolving slime attack, he finds Dark Schneider's excessive womanizing to be shameful. Beneath his rough exterior, he harbors genuine feelings for his comrade, Arshes Nei, throughout the series.

Gara's background reveals he was once the son of a great ninja who dreamed of becoming powerful enough to defeat anyone. When his father asked what he would do after reaching that goal, the young Gara had no answer. As an adult, he pledged loyalty to a king and served faithfully for years. When the powerful wizard Dark Schneider targeted that kingdom, Gara requested permission to assassinate him. The king agreed, offering the title of Ninja Master as a reward. Gara snuck into Dark Schneider's base and attacked him, but Dark Schneider merely toyed with him in their battle. Impressed or simply acknowledging superior strength, Gara instead allied himself with Dark Schneider and became one of his Divine Kings.

In the story, Gara initially appears as an antagonist, serving under the resurrected god Anthrasax. He is present when the forces gather to attack Metallicana and is shocked to learn of Dark Schneider's return. True to his philosophy, after being defeated by Dark Schneider once more, he switches allegiance back to him. When Castle Metallicana is destroyed, Dark Schneider transports Gara to the other side of the world to save him. Gara spends the next two years crossing deserts and oceans to return, an adventure detailed in the novel Bastard!!: Ninja Master Gara Gaiden. Upon his return, he rejoins the fight, eventually making his way to the flying city of King Crimson Glory with Arshes Nei. There, they encounter and swiftly defeat several Sorcerer Shoguns before reuniting with Dark Schneider. Four years later, Gara is shown living in the ruins of Metallicana with his ninja, where he is present for Dark Schneider's final battles.

Key relationships define much of Gara's journey. His bond with Dark Schneider is based on respect for power rather than loyalty to a cause, and he follows him because he is the strongest. He shares a notable camaraderie with fellow Divine Kings, particularly Kall-Su. His unspoken feelings for Arshes Nei add a layer of depth to his character, as he becomes enraged at the mere suggestion that a dragon might be targeting her. Gara also forms a friendship with Maclalpine Toni Strauss during their travels together.

Gara's development shows a shift from a straightforward enemy to a reliable ally. His philosophy of following the strongest gives him a pragmatic flexibility that allows him to change sides without the burden of moral conflict, ultimately settling as a steadfast supporter of Dark Schneider.

As a ninja master, Gara possesses vast knowledge of ninja arts and is one of the best swordsmen in the series. He wields the cursed magical blade Murasame, with which he can perform powerful techniques. These include Majinken, a speed-boosted slash; True Majinken, which launches a beam of wind and thunder; Keiun Kininken, an attack that strikes both material and spiritual forms; and Majin Flashing Drive, an ultimate technique unleashing a massive wave of force. He also has superhuman strength, capable of withstanding blows that shatter the ground beneath him. His skills include the Bare-Handed Light Ray Block, where he catches energy beams and throws them back, and the Scud Bomber, a punch with the back of his hand. Gara has access to various armors like Hiei for defense and Hiryu for greater power, as well as ninja weapons including large shuriken and kunai. His ninja arts include disguise techniques and the Seven Body Split, where he moves fast enough to create multiple illusions of himself. A common misconception is that Gara has a healing factor, but in reality, Dark Schneider uses magic to regenerate his lost limbs.
