Description
Chota is an elite magic user and a high-ranking officer within the En Family, where he serves as one of its most unusual and devoted members. He is a large and muscular man, standing 198 centimeters tall, who typically wears a distinctive mask shaped like a furry black bird's head with no eye holes. Under this mask, his face is disfigured, lacking lips due to a failed surgical procedure he underwent in an attempt to be able to expel his magic smoke from his mouth as well as from his hands. The surgery was a partial success, allowing him to produce smoke from his mouth, but the side effect left his face unable to regenerate skin. His own dispelling magic further prevents any attempt to heal the scars.
Chota's personality stands in stark contrast to his imposing physique. He speaks in a feminine manner, and his tastes, thoughts, and behaviors are very girlish. He is openly and obsessively in love with his boss, En, and is constantly and unabashedly hopeful of becoming En's partner. This devotion is absolute; even when En once used his magic to turn Chota's head into a large mushroom, Chota cherished the transformation because the fungus smelled like En, and he resolved to keep it until it rotted. His single-minded affection extends to a tattoo of a heart with En's name on his left upper arm.
Despite his loyalty, En finds Chota's romantic advances tiresome, and the feeling is largely unrequited. Chota's primary motivation is to be close to En and to be acknowledged by him. This desire leads him to become intensely jealous of Nikaido when En forcibly makes her his partner. In his jealousy, Chota resorts to petty and cruel attempts to harm or kill her, such as giving her poisoned tea or setting lethal traps. When the devil Asu transforms Chota into an exact physical clone of Nikaido to deceive En, Chota initially revels in the attention he receives from En in this new form, even beginning to consider living the rest of his life that way, though he is disgusted by looking like his rival.

He possesses dispelling magic, an uncommon ability that allows him to cancel the magical effects of other sorcerers, regardless of their strength or source. This makes him the only known method to remove a magical effect without the original caster's cooperation or death.
