Description
Arimi Suzuki is a significant supporting character who first appears as a former classmate of Yuu Matsuura from his previous high school, Sakaki Gakuen. She is depicted as a girl with short, shaggy hair and a cheerful, spirited personality, known for being lively and taking things at her own pace. She is also an athlete, belonging to her school's track and field team.
Before the events of the series, Arimi convinced Yuu to enter a three-month trial relationship with her, hoping he would fall in love with her during that time. However, at the end of this period, Yuu still only saw her as a friend. Despite this, Arimi continued to harbor feelings for him, which resurface when she re-encounters Yuu spending time with Miki Koishikawa at a theme park. She then begins to intentionally appear at places he frequents, such as his new school and part-time job.
Arimi's primary role in the story is that of a rival to Miki for Yuu's affections. She is frustrated by what she perceives as Miki's indecisiveness between Yuu and her childhood friend, Ginta Suou, believing that Yuu deserves someone more committed. This frustration leads her to form a pact with Ginta, and together they attempt to drive a wedge between Yuu and Miki. Despite her scheming, Arimi is observant and ultimately sincere in her feelings. She eventually realizes that Yuu's behavior around Miki shows he truly cares for her, leading her to stop her pursuit of him.
As her relationship with Yuu becomes hopeless, Arimi grows closer to Ginta, and they begin to develop genuine romantic feelings for each other, eventually becoming a couple. Her romantic life is further complicated by the presence of Tsutomu Rokutanda, Ginta's cousin, who harbors an intense and long-standing unrequited love for her.
Throughout the series, Arimi demonstrates notable personal growth. She begins as a determined antagonist whose actions are driven by her lingering love for Yuu. Her journey leads her to accept his feelings for Miki and find her own happiness with Ginta, showcasing her ability to move on and form a genuine connection with someone new. Her athletic ability as a member of the track and field club is a notable trait.
