Miles Prower, known by his nickname Tails, is a young anthropomorphic fox with two distinct tails, a trait that allows him to fly by spinning them like a helicopter rotor. In the Paramount Pictures live-action film series, which includes the spin-off series Knuckles, Tails is an alien from another world who originally felt like an outcast in his home village because of his unusual twin tails. His life changed when he witnessed Sonic the Hedgehog using his super speed to save his own village from the villainous Dr. Robotnik. Inspired by Sonic’s bravery, Tails developed a deep admiration for the hedgehog and built advanced technology, including a long-range tracking device, to locate him. After tracking Sonic to Earth, Tails initially arrived to warn him that Knuckles the Echidna was hunting him. Over the course of the second film, Tails forged a close friendship with Sonic and eventually helped him and Knuckles protect the Master Emerald from Dr. Robotnik. Following that victory, Tails, Sonic, and Knuckles formed a team and were informally adopted by the human couple Tom and Maddie Wachowski.

In terms of physical abilities, Tails can fly for extended periods without tiring and is shown to be agile and resourceful in battle. He also possesses the ability to swim.

In the Knuckles series, Tails appears alongside Sonic as a supporting character. The series takes place between the events of the second and third films, focusing on Knuckles’ journey of self-discovery as he trains the human Wade Whipple. Tails and Sonic are present in the show, assisting Knuckles when needed, though the narrative primarily centers on the echidna’s personal quest. Within the series, Tails serves as a reliable partner who contributes his technological expertise and emotional support to the group. His key relationships include his brotherly bond with Sonic, whom he treats as an older sibling figure; his respectful partnership with Knuckles, whom he works alongside to protect the Master Emerald; and his familial connection to Tom and Maddie Wachowski, who have taken him in as a foster son.

Throughout the film continuity, Tails undergoes notable development from a lonely, starstruck fan into a confident and capable hero. He no longer seeks validation from Sonic but instead takes initiative, devises strategies independently, and stands his ground even during disagreements. By the third film, he demonstrates maturity by offering comfort and calm guidance to his teammates during moments of emotional turmoil.
