Description
Madmole is a Fifth Generation Dragon Slayer and a member of Diabolos, a guild of dragon eaters. He obtained his power by devouring an Armor Dragon or a Dragon Slayer who possessed the properties of an Armor Dragon, granting him the ability to use Armor Dragon Slayer Magic. Physically, Madmole is a tall man with a serious expression. He has distinctive eyebrows, long earlobes, and cornrows-style hair tied back into a ponytail. He wears armor as his attire.
In terms of personality, Madmole is notably more mellow and polite than many of his guildmates, often using honorifics such as -dono when addressing others. He is practical and strategic, preferring to think carefully before engaging stronger opponents rather than acting impulsively. This calculated approach contrasts sharply with the brash attitude of his comrade Kiria. His motivation as a Dragon Eater is to gain power by consuming dragons, and he serves Diabolos in their conflicts with Fairy Tail over the hundred years quest.
Madmole’s role in the story is primarily as an antagonist and a supporting member of Diabolos. He first appears during the Water Dragon God arc, where he intervenes in a fight, blocking an attack from Erza Scarlet with his head and showing no sign of injury. He later joins battles alongside Kiria and Skullion Raider against Team Natsu and their allies. During the True Dragon King Festival arc, he continues to fight with his guild against Fairy Tail.
Key relationships include his fellow Diabolos members, especially Kiria, whom he expresses concern for when she is late in returning from a mission. He also works closely with Skullion Raider, and the three often fight together. His interactions with Natsu Dragneel are marked by a curious respect for older Dragon Slayers, as he comments that the dragon slayers of the old world had it rough.
Madmole’s character does not undergo significant development; he remains a composed and loyal soldier of Diabolos throughout his appearances. His primary role is to showcase the power of the Fifth Generation Dragon Slayers and to serve as a durable obstacle for the protagonists.
His most notable ability is Armor Dragon Slayer Magic, which allows him to take on the characteristics of an Armor Dragon. This magic grants him immense durability, enabling him to withstand powerful strikes, sharp bladed attacks, and intense flames without feeling pain. He can also increase his density and weight, causing him to sink rapidly underwater, and can materialize armor-like substances to create pathways across water. For offense, he uses the Armor Dragon's Steel-Fist Strike, which hardens his fists and delivers powerful blunt damage. Madmole also possesses a high degree of physical strength, demonstrated by his ability to throw Natsu into a ship with enough force to damage it. He is capable of using Dragon Force, the forbidden form that enhances his abilities further.
