Movie
Description
Charlotte Brulee is the eighth daughter and the nineteenth child of the Charlotte Family, making her a member of the Big Mom Pirates and an officer within the crew. She is also the older twin sister of her sibling, Broyé. Her name is a reference to the French dessert crème brûlée.
In terms of appearance, Brulee looks very much like a stereotypical witch. She is an extremely tall woman with gray skin and a thin but well-proportioned figure, which makes her limbs appear exceptionally long. She stands at roughly twice the height of Nami, with her legs alone being longer than Nami's entire body. She has a striking, hag-like face with droopy yellow eyes, long eyelashes, green eye shadow, and black, high-arched eyebrows that she keeps perpetually furrowed. One of her most prominent features is her huge, reddish, hooked nose, which is similar to her mother's, as well as a large mouth with purple lipstick that is often seen in a devilish smile. A brown, sharp-cornered scar stretches diagonally down her face from right to left. Her lavender hair is divided into several sharp, lock-like segments that stick out to the sides and curve slightly upward. Her typical outfit consists of a whitish, creased gown with a frilly neckline and tattered, flaring sleeves, adorned with red roses, and completed by a moss-green, feathered, sleeveless overcoat. This witch-like appearance leads to her being mistaken for a talking tree by Carrot and a branch by Monkey D. Luffy, much to her offense.
Brulee is a very prideful individual who is confident in her own powers and does not like being underestimated. She was notably offended when her mother, Big Mom, sent their sibling Charlotte Cracker to assist her in battle, implying that she was not powerful enough on her own. Due to the large scar on her face, she is deeply envious of those with beautiful, unblemished faces, to the point of wanting to slice them up. This jealousy is paired with a sadistic nature, as shown when she gleefully attempted to boil Carrot alive, excited at the prospect of disfiguring the mink's face with horrible burns. Despite her cruelty towards enemies, Brulee has a kind and caring side for her family, and is shown to genuinely love them, crying out in fear when the Whole Cake Chateau began to collapse with her family inside.
She is extremely loyal to her mother, Big Mom, and follows her orders diligently, such as when she was tasked with keeping Luffy and his group away from Sanji. She also holds her brother Katakuri in the highest regard, referring to him as the Charlotte Family's greatest masterpiece and keeping quiet about the fact that he lays on his back out of respect for him. Her loyalty to her family extends to a deep hatred of traitors, as seen when she angrily confronted Jinbe and her half-sister Chiffon for their roles in plots against Big Mom. However, her arrogance and carelessness often get the better of her, as she is noted by her own family to be clumsy and easily captured, which her enemies then exploit to use her Devil Fruit powers for their own benefit. When caught in helpless situations, Brulee can become quite cowardly, begging for her life and pleading for her siblings to save her. Her unique laugh is "Wiwwiwwiwwi".
Charlotte Brulee is the user of the Mirror-Mirror Fruit, a Paramecia-type Devil Fruit that allows her to create and manipulate mirrors. Her primary ability is to create a mirror-based alternate dimension known as Mirro-World, which she can enter and exit freely. By using her powers, she can also trap people inside this dimension, travel from one location to another by emerging from any reflective surface, and reflect attacks back at her opponents. She can transform herself into a mirror image of another person, copying their appearance and even their voice and abilities, though the reflection is perfectly mirrored, meaning left and right are swapped. She is also able to use her powers to transform animals into mirror images of people, though their voices and physical capabilities remain unchanged. In combat, aside from her Devil Fruit, she is shown to be physically strong enough to lift Nami with one hand and uses her long, sharp fingernails to slice at opponents. She also wields a scythe.
During the Whole Cake Island arc, Brulee is stationed in the Seducing Woods to ambush the Straw Hat crew, where she becomes a major antagonist. However, she is repeatedly captured by the Straw Hats and their allies, who force her to use her powers to help them navigate Totto Land. Her childhood backstory reveals that she received the scar on her face as a child when some bullies, who had been beaten by her brother Katakuri, attacked her in revenge. Despite this, she did not blame Katakuri and instead comforted him, telling him not to blame himself.
In One Piece Film Red, Charlotte Brulee appears alongside her siblings, Charlotte Katakuri and Charlotte Oven, as members of the Big Mom Pirates. In the film, they become temporary and reluctant allies of the Straw Hat Pirates. Her role involves using her mirror abilities to aid in the story, as she is described as the "mirror woman" who can travel between worlds through mirrors.
