TV-Series
Description
Kojūrō Shuri is a classmate and the closest friend of protagonist Masamune Makabe. He has a slender build, delicate features, and an androgynous appearance that frequently causes strangers and classmates to mistake him for a girl, an ongoing source of gentle humor. Because of his soft looks and non-threatening demeanor, he is affectionately but teasingly nicknamed the total bottom receptor by some of his peers. He attends the same high school as Masamune and becomes his first real confidant after Masamune transfers in.

His personality is kind, patient, and sincere. He is notably level-headed and often serves as the voice of reason when Masamune becomes swept up in his dramatic schemes. Shuri is emotionally mature for his age, a loyal listener, and offers steady moral support, even though he remains unaware of the full scope of Masamune’s revenge plot. He is not particularly strong in academics and regularly attends supplementary lessons, which reveals a somewhat clumsy but earnest side. He loves sweets and is skilled at making and judging pastries, frequently bringing cakes or snacks to share.

Shuri’s primary role in the story is that of the supportive best friend and moral anchor. He provides a normal, grounded social connection for Masamune amid the romantic entanglements and manipulations that surround the main plot. He also carries a quiet, unrequited romantic affection for Neko Fujinomiya. He admires her deeply but is too shy and modest to openly express his feelings, which adds a tender and bittersweet dimension to his character. His interactions with Aki Adagaki are marked by a respectful nervousness, and he maintains a warm cordiality with the rest of the cast.

He undergoes no radical transformation over the course of the series; his growth lies in his quiet resilience and his steadfast commitment to his friendships. His notable abilities are not combat or supernatural but rather his perceptiveness about the emotions of those around him and his unwavering loyalty. In a cast full of proud, calculating, or dramatic personalities, Shuri stands out as an unfailingly gentle and sincere presence, demonstrating that strength can be found in consistent kindness.
