Description
Max is a young boy who travels with Ash Ketchum, Brock, and his older sister May during their journey through the Hoenn region. In Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew, Max accompanies the group to Cameron Palace and later on the expedition to the Tree of Beginning after Pikachu is whisked away by Mew. He is shown to be observant and compassionate, particularly when he notices Lucario’s distrust of humans. During a tense moment, Max offers Lucario a chocolate bar, a simple but meaningful gesture that the Pokémon accepts and enjoys. This small act of kindness helps ease Lucario’s hostility and marks the beginning of his gradual willingness to trust the group. Max’s role in the story is supportive; he does not engage in battles or possess special abilities, but his empathy contributes to the emotional turning point that allows Lucario to cooperate with Ash and ultimately learn the truth about his master, Sir Aaron. Max does not undergo significant personal development within the film, but his interaction with Lucario highlights his caring nature and reinforces the theme of trust between humans and Pokémon.
