Kayzie Rogers
Description
Kayzie Rogers is a retired American voice actress known for her extensive work in anime, particularly within the Pokémon franchise, as well as in commercials and video games. Her career in voice acting spanned three decades, from approximately 1987 until her retirement in 2017.
Rogers discovered her passion for performance at a young age, participating in school plays from kindergarten through college. Before pursuing voice acting full-time, she worked as an NBC page at Rockefeller Center and had a successful career in graphic arts. Her entry into voice acting was facilitated by vocal coach Maddie Blaustein. After creating her first cartoon-voice demo in 1990, she was quickly cast in a public service announcement and soon after landed her first television role on the Nickelodeon series U2U, where she provided all the high-pitched character voices.
Rogers is most recognized for her prolific and long-standing contribution to the English-language dub of the Pokémon anime. She was part of the series from its inception and voiced over fifty distinct characters throughout her tenure. Her most notable and enduring role was Jessie's Wobbuffet, a character she voiced for sixteen years, from 2001 to 2017. She also provided the voices for numerous other Pokémon, including Axew, Mime Jr., Cyndaquil, Totodile, and various Eeveelutions such as Espeon, Flareon, Jolteon, Umbreon, and Vaporeon. In addition to Pokémon characters, Rogers voiced the human character Max during the ninth season of the anime and appeared in many Pokémon films, including Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea. During the transition of the anime's production from 4Kids Entertainment to The Pokémon Company International, Rogers continued her work under the pseudonym Jamie Peacock.
Beyond Pokémon, Rogers built a diverse filmography with other prominent anime series. She voiced Tuff and Lady Like in Kirby: Right Back at Ya!, Koby and Alvida in the 4Kids adaptation of One Piece, and Sara Ringwalt in the series Now and Then, Here and There. Her other anime credits include roles in Fighting Foodons as Pie-Tin, Here is Greenwood as Reina Kisaragi, Tama and Friends as Doozle and Pimmy, and Sonic X as Topaz. Her work also extended to original animation, where she voiced characters in series such as Chaotic, G.I. Joe: Sigma Six, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
Rogers's talent was not limited to television and film; she also lent her voice to numerous video games, including the Super Smash Bros. series, various PokéPark games, and titles like Bullet Witch and Valkyrie Profile. Her vocal range and ability to create inventive and wacky characterizations were hallmarks of her career. Kayzie Rogers retired from voice acting in 2017, with her iconic role of Wobbuffet being succeeded by Erica Schroeder.
