Description
Bob is an artificial intelligence who serves as the partner and support system for the extraterrestrial bounty hunter Iria. As an AI, he is a disembodied computer entity that assists in the logistics and execution of her missions across different planets. His primary functions include managing transportation, generating alternate dimensions, and handling communications. Bob is instrumental in creating the virtually constructed alternate dimensions known as Zones, which are used as containment and combat areas to neutralize dangerous targets without causing harm to civilian populations. He also manages teleportation units and the deployment of heavy weaponry, such as the Metis Cannon.

In terms of personality, Bob exhibits a notable change between his appearance in the first film and Zeiram 2. In the sequel, he is portrayed as having shaken off a previous artificial attitude and is generally kinder in his demeanor. He shows deference to Iria, bending to her authority, which suggests a professional respect for her role as the field operative. He acts as a logical and cautious voice, often providing tactical analysis and warning Iria of the risks associated with close-range combat against powerful beings like Zeiram.

Bob's central motivation revolves around the successful completion of the bounty hunting assignment and the safety of his partner, Iria. He supports her decision to use dangerous equipment despite potential risks, demonstrating loyalty to her objectives. His role in the story is that of a coordinator and strategist, often remaining in a command center while Iria engages in direct confrontation. He serves as the technological backbone of the operation, creating and managing the Zone that traps the creature Zeiram and the human electricians, Teppei and Kamiya.

His key relationships are primarily with Iria and the two Earth electricians. With Iria, he shares a long-standing professional partnership, providing her with intelligence and logistical support. The relationship is functional, with Bob taking orders and offering assistance rather than direct combat participation. He also interacts with Teppei and Kamiya, who inadvertently become involved in the conflict; he explains the nature of the alien threat and the mechanics of the Zone to them. In Zeiram 2, Bob also becomes involved with a new character, Fujikuro, who ends up trapped in a virtual reality prison inside Bob as a form of containment.

Throughout the events of Zeiram 2, Bob remains a consistent presence, but the development primarily highlights his changed attitude from the original film, becoming a more agreeable and less temperamental entity. Notable abilities include the power to create and sustain complex simulated realities, teleport matter across dimensions, and house digital prisons. His technological interface can be manipulated by skilled humans, as Kamiya uses his electrician expertise to reconnect Bob's systems and repair damaged transport units during the climax of the first film, a skill set that remains relevant in the sequel.
