Description
In the island nation of Takamagahara, every living being is born with a spirit dwelling within them. This natural law does not apply to Akira, the eldest son of the noble Ugetsu family, one of the eight great houses that govern the land. Labeled as a disgrace and shunned by his own kin, Akira is eventually cast out from his home after his grandmother’s death. He drifts to the distant southern province of Shumon, where he hides his noble lineage and enlists as a common trainee in the region’s defense force, fighting against miasma-born monsters called kegare. His days are harsh but peaceful until a chance encounter with Rindo Saki, a daughter of one of Shumon’s elite families, leads him into the presence of the sleeping fire god, Shuka. She reveals that Akira is a Kami Nashi no Mikasa, a rare being loved by spirits and gods, born without a spirit of his own but capable of channeling immense divine power. Bestowed with Shuka’s blessings and a sacred blade, Akira begins to uncover his true nature and the ancient evil stirring in the shadows, a threat that could devour everything he has come to call home. The story follows his journey of self-discovery, mastery of spirit techniques, and the slow awakening of a destiny that ties him to the fire god and the fate of Takamagahara itself.
