Description
Gen Kinokura, a 34-year-old who finds peace and solitude in solo camping, has his quiet routine upended when he crosses paths with Shizuku Kusano. She is a 20-year-old junior college student with almost no camping experience, who becomes lost in the forest and stumbles upon Gen's campsite. Their first encounter is awkward and chaotic, as he finds her trying to dry her clothes by his fire after falling into a river. Despite his initial reluctance and firm desire to be alone, Shizuku is determined to learn the skills needed to camp on her own. She persuades a wary Gen to become her reluctant mentor, leading to an unusual arrangement they call solo camping for two, where they camp together while maintaining the spirit of a solo outing.

The live-action television drama unfolds across the forests and scenic campsites of Japan, emphasizing the practical gear, cooking methods, and etiquette of outdoor life. The story follows the mismatched pair as they navigate the rules they set for their shared trips, with Gen providing expert instruction on everything from pitching a tent to building a fire. In turn, Shizuku’s enthusiastic and often chaotic approach begins to challenge Gen’s carefully guarded independence. As they spend more time together, their relationship deepens beyond teacher and student. Gen is forced to confront his past, including his intimacy issues stemming from the death of his father and a failed relationship with his first love, Kana. Meanwhile, Shizuku’s cheerful persistence gradually breaks down the walls he has built around himself, introducing an undercurrent of potential romance that their friends, like the initially suspicious Saya, do not fail to notice.

The drama aired for eight episodes on Tokyo MX from January 9 to February 27, 2025. The central dynamic is brought to life by Win Morisaki as the introverted and experienced Gen Kinokura and Miyu Honda as the energetic novice Shizuku Kusano. They are supported by a small cast, including Yu Inaba as Akihito Takigawa, Saki Miyashita as Mizuki Hino, and Erika Takizawa as Saya Ozora. The narrative balances educational segments on camping techniques with the slow-burning emotional journey of its two leads, as they gradually discover that what began as an accidental encounter might lead to a connection neither was looking for.
