Kyosuke Tsurumaki and Kai Amano are two young men whose shared passion for music led them to form the duo Kanitama, with their sights set on a major debut. However, their dream is shattered when Kai dies in a tragic traffic accident the day before their big break. Consumed by grief, Kyosuke abandons music entirely, becoming a freeter who drifts through life without purpose, living at home and working part-time jobs to get by.

Three years after Kai’s death, Kyosuke is caught off guard when a familiar figure appears at his home. Kai stands before him, looking and acting as if nothing has changed, with the same blunt and forceful personality he had in life.
